Just wanted to post my experience of a first time user of NA. Bought Komplete 12 and an external USB3 2gb drive to hold it all on a 3 month old i9 iMac with 40g ram and a 1gb SSD drive. Direct connection to a 350gb internet so I thought ah this will be a doddle and be done in no time. How wrong I was!! Of course I selected download all and watched as the first, of about 70 downloads crawls by. Maybe it’s warming up I think and wait until the first one eventually downloads. But no it’s not warming up is it? Hell no... it’s getting late now so I turn off all timers and screen savers and every other program running so it’s just got one job to do and go to bed thinking it’ll all be done by morning. You know what’s coming next don’t you...it only crashed on the 3rd download so I start to google problems downloading using NA. I’m met with the worst possible search results, ‘I was 6/7/10/8 days downloading mine...what’s going on NI? Oh ****...
So I restart the Mac and the first of the new downloads goes at more normal rate and I’ve new found hope...only for the next one to drag again. I restart the mac again and the same thing happens. At this stage I’m thinking ok 60 odd restarts is still better that 10 days downloading right? You bet it is. So that’s what I did folks, call it a workaround of sorts, occasionally two or three instruments downloaded at normal speeds before it fell on its arse again but I hope this can be of some help to others. Shouldn’t be this difficult, that goes without saying, sort it out NI!!

I feel your pain and rather than start a new thread I hope you don't mind if I share my experience... NA (Native Access) has never worked correctly ever since I installed it. Sometimes it will take many days or hours to install updates or new programs. It got so bad that I refused to run it to check for updates to my plugins/NI software. Today, after many months of not using it, I decided I wanted to use my NI software and thought it would be a good idea to check for any updates/patches (using Native Access).... well NA found some updates and began to download.... 7 hours later, I'm still here trying to finish what should've finished in a few minutes. Numerous restarts, uninstalls and re installs did not do a thing. This piece of $#@^ software is still stuck and will refuse to finish the processes. After some research, I found out that Native Access has been having issues for a long time and its very disappointing that Native Instruments have yet to address and properly fix this software. Its been many weeks since I used my NI plugins and midi because I cant rely on NA to work correctly and keep my products up to date... Native Instruments - You need to fix this ASAP and release a proper response to your loyal customer base!!!

Keep in mind that it doesn't have to be NI themselves. If there's a flakey router between you an the NI servers you'd experience the same thing even though both yourself and NI wouldn't have any issues.

I've installed Komplete collectors edition fully online and without any notable delays. Which in my opinion rules out the NI servers as a specific cause. Though they may be a bit more busy now that everyone wants to register & download Raum.

I did some digging through the Task Manager > Ethernet > Resource Monitor and you can see all the processes using the internet.
Interesting find (I had a feeling)

First pane (Processes with Network Activity) shows no sign of Native Access
    Second Pane (Network Activity) nothing
Third Pane (TCP Connections) I can see Native Access trying and trying and trying, but it quickly gets grayed out and a new Native Access pops up and it quickly gets grayed out and... etc.
Fourth Pane (Listening Ports) It's there.

So it definitely seems like something on the Windows end. Will try further things. Anyone know how I could "jumpstart" Native Access' access to the internet?

EDIT: This solution worked for me

    Bump

    Just to chip in here.

I was having some issues downloading Arkhis, as Native Access was saying it would take anything from 17 to 22 hours...

I put in a support ticket, and they were lovely enough to provide me with a direct download link. I say that sincerely :)

Took 40 minutes for 12 GB

Hopefully an update will fix this issue as I have never seen a software downloader so slow!

Currently trying to update Komplete Kontrol (177MB)... 20 minutes......

Please fix! I think you for the Arkhis assist but this shouldn't be happening!

If you are having issues, put in a support ticket so they know what's going on. The forums are for us plonkers trying to work it out :)

    Good luck!

I've had the same issue and just found a fix that works for me. Try using a VPN to download the content. I used Windscribe because they offer some free data, but I'm guessing any VPN will do. I'd try a free VPN to see if it helps you first, and then consider paying for a full VPN if you need to download more data than the free access allows. It's not full speed, but it's way faster than the crawling speed I normally get from native access.

I've had a similar problem with a different service before, and I think it's to do with your ISP and the servers they use (not that I know anything about that stuff).

    Hope that helps someone!

The proxy trick only worked for a bit, then a restart of NA was necessary. However, the VPN solution seems to work. Thank you Riddley.

I checked with Resource Manager, and, for some reason, Native Access switches at some point to a IPv4 loopback connection, which is refreshed very frequently and seems to cause the slowdown. Using a VPN gives a more stable connection. It is weird, but at least it allows us to install huge files in a timely manner.
