Saw a similar post to this but different issue.

I'm running a 2020 MBA and NA wont install my files on an either of my external hds. Both have tons of space and the message doesn't give any clarity to the issue. It just says: Installing *insert item* failed. An error occurred while running the installer.

I'm running Catalina 10.15.4 any assistance would be appreciated.

You cannot install applications to external drive, only sound libraries.

I’m trying to install sound libraries. Maschine is already installed and functioning properly. I’m trying to get my sound expansions on the external hard drive.

With my external drive i created folder called NI, then select that location to install. I do that with kontakt libs, but have not used machine, so might be different. Or could be one of the many issues with catalina which are disappointing.

Yeah I did the same and I think you might be right as far as Catalina which is unfortunate. I'm going to need NI to find proper workarounds.

Just a heads up to anyone else that experiences this. I was able to find a work around. Install the sound libraries directly to your computer like you normally would. Once they finish go to the folder where they're located and manually move them over to your external hd. You'll then need to go back into Native Access and repair the file locations for each one. But once you finish that it should work fine.

Pre-text: This fix is for the Mac version of Native Access. If you're having an issue with Windows, this won't apply to you.

Sorry to necro this thread, but anyone who has an issue and doesn't want to go through the whole copy/paste and repair scenario, the error appears to be due to Native Access not having the permissions to write to an external drive by default. I discovered this by going through and manually installing some of the packages for a while, and each time I had to re-grant the program permissions to read/write to my external hard drive. The way I found to fix this, is to give Native Access "Full Disk Access" permissions.

This is accomplished by going to Settings > Security & Privacy > Privacy tab > Full Disk Access > Check the box next to Native Access > Restart Native Access and retry your installs. It worked for me. Obviously, your mileage may vary. Hope this helps some people who come across this issue.

Writing to let people know that this indeed was the issue for me. Giving Native Access "Full Disk Access" solved it. If your Content Location path is an external drive, this may be your issue.
