I moved my hard drive from my old Mac to a new Mac.

Fire up Maschine and it wants to go though an activation process. COOL! Then this goes on.

Old mac, new SSD, New install High Sierra. Install Native Access yay! Then we go though the install process. CRASH CRASH CRASH.

2 different machines same damn problem.

We spent a lot of money here in the studio for this luxury

You need to fully uninstall Native Access, delete preferences and plist files from the hidden folders on your hard drives. Then re-install it

    Where is this process documented?

Its according to your OS. You can google how to delete Plist/ Preference files. Ensure that you delete everything NI related.

Im not about ready to do that. These installations are huge. If the process is documented to remove the NI's software then I'll move forward.

Yay! 14 hours later -- SAME RESULTS! Just as I figured, this was not a work around or fix. NA still sucks.

We gave up .. My customer has just walked out of the studio because we cant seem to get the product reinstalled after 4 days.

djbrown15, Please be careful of your input in the future. Please read the full issue listed above and take note that this is on both machines here in the studio.

What do you mean you moved the hard drive? Is this an external HD that has all your NI stuff installed? Is it an SSD?

Firstly delete the app (Native Access) and install again. Check if it works (this won't delete your instruments or libraries.)
If that doesn't work then try AppCleaner, drag NA to it, it will also delete a bunch of files associated with NA, there's a high chance of this process resetting your library, but if currently you cant use anything it might be better to do a full reinstall than not being able to work.

In the future never update your OS when you have clients/work scheduled.

    D-One HELLO!

We moved the 4TB SSD form a mac mini to a mac pro. Internal drive. The mac mini couldnt keep up with big projects.
    1) Removed NA first after reading posts. Didnt work.
    2) Reinstalled NA after removing plist files. Didnt work.
    3) Removed all files Mr Brown suggested. Major f-up here.
    4) Loaded up our mac mini with 2TB SSD install fresh High Sierra. Loaded NA and proceeded to reinstall whole NI suite. NA crashed immediately after the first 2 programs installed.
    5) We cannot currently reinstall unless I pay someone to sit infront of the Mac and hit REOPEN every time NA crashes.

We have not tried the AppCleaner path. Is this process documented somewhere? The library settings are already trashed now so I guess it cant hurt.

As for upgrading before a session, we started the venture 2 days before his arrival. 2 days! Former IT Director we are well aware of change schedules, change management, release management and product fulfillment release. I'm not sure NI does proper testing, there seems to be a lot of this 'reported crashing' I appreciate the input, please dont get me wrong.

    Ticket created 1428965.

    Attached CRASH FILE location.

Well D-One. This is what Im talking about when I say I listen to your input. Appcleaner has resolved the issue. I have work to do now but NA is working without issue.

I owe you a fat dinner.

Hi. I see. No, appcleaner is just a general uninstallation application for Mac, its useful to make sure an app is fully removed with no leftover files on OSX, it's good practice to always use it when you want to remove any app since OSX doesn't have a built-in uninstall utility like windows. (Only be careful when removing apps that have libraries/saves you want to keep)

I'm glad you got it sorted... if only I saw this thread earlier.
If I am ever in the neighboorhood ill make sure to collect that dinner :D

    Hi,

I'm having a very similar issue to what you described and I can't get Native Access to work no matter what I do. I've used AppCleaner to do a clean uninstall of Native Access, but I'm still getting the same crash. I even searched to see if there were extra preference files and plists left behind and cleaned those out to. I'm getting nowhere on this, unfortunately. Does anyone have any other suggestions that could help me out here? Here's part of my crash report:

    Application Specific Information
*** Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInvalidArgumentException', reason: '-[__NSCFData _fastCStringContents:]: unrecognized selector sent to instance 0x60800008a370'
terminating with uncaught exception of type NSException
    abort() called

    Thanks!

This worked for me on my Macbook pro. https://support.native-instruments....0994049-Native-Access-Crashes-or-Freezes-Mac-

Native Access Fix for Crashes or Freezes (Mac)

We are sorry for the inconvenience caused by this issue!

In most of the cases, you can solve this issue by manually uninstalling Native Access in order to proceed to a clean reinstall.

    1. Uninstall

Please delete the following files and folders from your computer:

    · Macintosh HD > Applications > Native Access.app

    · Macintosh HD > Users > *User name* > Library > Preferences > com.native-instruments.Native Access.plist

    · Macintosh HD > Users > *User name* > Library > Application Support > Native Instruments > Native Access (folder)

    · Macintosh HD > Users > *User name* > Library > Application Support > Native Instruments > Native Access Updater (folder)

    · Macintosh HD > Library > Application Support > Native Instruments > Helper > NiHelperAuth

    · Macintosh HD > Library > Launch Daemons > com.native-instruments.Installer.HelperTool.plist

    · Macintosh HD > Library > Launch Daemons > com.native-instruments.Native Access.Helper2.plist

Note: The User Library is a hidden folder on macOS. To access it, click Go in the Finder menu bar and press down the Alt key. The Library entry will now appear in the menu.

    2. Reinstall

    · Restart your computer.

    · Download the full installer for Native Access here on our website and launch the installation process.

If you still experience crashes or freezes with Native Access, please contact our support team.

I hate to add to an old thread but thank you D-One, this AppCleaner worked like magic. I had the same problem after the Catalina 10.15.4 update, and nothing was installing even after uninstalling NA several times. One hit with this and it works. I am finally installing everything without issue. Thumbs up.

In case it helps someone else, I just ran into this issue too. I'm on a Mac, running a new, clean install of the latest version of Catalina (10.15.4).

After successfully installing a Maschine expansion, I went to install another one and starting getting the error. After that I couldn't install anything…same error every time. Retrying doesn't work. Restarting Native Access didn't help. I tried giving Native Access "Full Disk Access" in System Preferences > Security & Privacy…didn't help (so I turned it back off).

I decided to just restart the computer before doing anything else, and that fixed the issue. So yeah…try that before you do anything else. I'm sure this won't solve the problem for everyone, but you definitely don't want to blow away your entire NA installation and reinstall everything from scratch if a simple restart will do.

Update: The issue just came up again, and this time I found a better fix for it. This only applies to Mac users running Catalina. If you're not running Catalina, this won't help.

When you see the error, leave Native Access open and:
    1. Open your Downloads folder. If you didn't change the default Download Location in Native Access, it's in your home folder under Downloads.
    2. Find the '.iso' file for the product you were trying to install in Native Access. Double-click it to mount the disk image.
    3. Double-click the '.pkg' installer package.
    4. You should see a dialog that says "Installer would like to access files on a removable volume". Click OK to allow this.
    5. Cancel the installation.
    6. Go back to Native Access and click Retry on the item that failed to install. Now it should work.
This fixed the problem for me, and I was also able to install other stuff without getting the same error again (though next time it comes up, I'll know what to do). If anyone else runs into the same problem, let me know if this helped.

This sounds like a Catalina issue, isn't it?

The one I'm describing is definitely a Catalina issue, but the error in Native Access is just a generic "something went wrong", so there are probably other issues that can result in the same error.
