daw would be dope but daw functionality in maschine would be doper

if they had it like albeton hwere u have performance mode and sequencer mode.

so the current maschine would be like performance mode then hit a switch then u get the full left to right sequencer with audio tracks and the whole nine yards.

if they could isolate the best elements of studio one and abelton then simply further to fit into the maschine style thats game over

dunno about a separate DAW but maschine would definitely benefit from more DAW like features.

Give maschine a decent undockable sequencer and mixer page with MCC support plus better handling of midi input (midi modifiers etc.) and youve pretty much cracked it.

I don't care to see maschine become a daw. New features are always welcome

For me even if Maschine went full on DAW I'd still end up using Ableton or Logic or Pro Tools because I'm use to them and they have the features I need already.

    To give you an idea:

Justin Frankel, which is the developer behind Reaper sold Nullsoft (which is the company that made WinAmp) for 400 Millions dollars to AOL. During the deal, he personally made $59 Millions.

In summer 2012, there was over 750,000 users that owned a Reaper license and over 800,000 worldwide that still use Reaper without license after the 30 days trial. And there is over 40,000 registered users on Cockos forum.

I still do believe it's pretty large numbers and plenty of mouths to feed too (even thought I'm not personally using Reaper anymore).

I also believe updates frequency is more about company's philosophy and strategy and not only regarding the size of the company or its user database.

Having said that, I'd love to see Maschine to become a real DAW, but due to the update frequency and respond to feature request, I'd seriously doubt it would be really suitable.

    My 2 cents

Where on earth did you get those sales figures for REAPER?

I think maschine neemt à mixer and better track recordindeling possibilities. So, it needs dat-like possibilities. This mixer can communicatie with à mixer and-on controller, which in midi mode can be used with traktor.

For the Maschine software probably being much a DAW already, I don't see why making it more like a DAW would make the work-flow better. The hands-on control is something I rarely see in DAWs and I hate being forced to use a mouse to make music. I am not sure how strong the VSTi support is, but so far it seems to work.

I would consider Maschine a DAW if it had audio tracks and a mixer....but that's just me.

I'd like to see a perfect working combination of Maschine and Bitwig Studio.

At least give us a dedicated mixer page, a la any DAW ever made (not saying Maschine is or should be a DAW, but this seems like a no-brainer).....

Im hoping NI dont make there own door but actualy sort out the hugely annoying probles with what we already have in Maschine, its driving me nuts not been able to have notes continue from one scene too another, and the tedious automation thats limited to the pattern, surely this should be in a lane on its own, Maschine is supposed to speed up work flow, it needs improving badly, its a shame because it has so much potential.

I've found that NI are very responsive if you actually contact there tech support (not just post on the forum).

As for software updates, they've pretty much been annual for the last few years so expect another one around summer.

I'd love to see a DAW from N.I. I think they would excel at it. They understand what musicians want. I hope one day they go for it.

I guess you are somewhat correct, but there are a few things they seem to have forgotten about along the way. I hope it doesn't become a DAW-like experience, but keeps the hands-on work flow. I really don't want to use the mouse MORE, but rather less if you see what I mean.

I agree. Keep it straightforward and improve the sequencer / scene or song mode stuff and add audio tracks. Don't make it a DAW, it's unnecessary. Especially knowing many people already use their favorite DAW anyway.

Yes, this shouldn't be hard to fix.

No daw, I love the simplicity-quickness of Maschine. I already create full complete songs with Maschine the way it is, besides the mastering. I think the mastering fx can be better. If you want a daw similar to Maschine, it already exists.

The problem imo with making Maschine into a DAW is that a DAW features so much so if it becomes a DAW it will eventually ignore the things that made Maschine cool in the first place. I would much rather them focus on making Maschine a dope ass drum machine and midi sequencer with audio tracks and limited audio editing and stay away from the already ovesaturated DAW arena. I like that it is a dedicated tool that does one or two things really well.

The Maschine software IS the DAW.
