Well for me I'm no fan of the Maschine GUI, I guess I should be more focused on using the hardware (except some functions require the GUI). The Maschine GUI feels crammed and any DAW has a much more appealing sequencer. Problem is NI isn't going to simplify things now that they added this and that bells and whistles. Best I could hope for is a more streamlined experience that lets me create beats simply, quickly, and accurately.

They could just do Maschine and Maschine + . Kind of like Komplete and Ultimate.

That way the people that are happy with it how it is aren't forced to pay extra money for the DAW like features other people are hoping for.

I'd be happy to pay a sensible amount of money to add an arrangement+mixer view. The way the groups etc work could stay how they are. I'd just like reliable meters and a nice way to very quickly drop my patterns into a linear format, whilst keeping my group/sound FX chains in tact. I'd also like a proper playhead with independent looping in this new view.

Things like sidechain, multicore etc should be here soon imo and definitely shouldn't be exclusive to the premium version.

If only life were that simple. ;-)

To be honest the Maschine software did grow on me and I kind of like it, but it's far to basic for DAW standards despite being the software front end we can make music with.

What really should happen is incoorporate the actual device and it's control into the software. I keep reaching that point where using the mouse beats using the controller which doesn't sound like the way it is supposed to be.

At a certain point though, what's the difference between that and a DAW? I don't care what they call it.. DAW, sequencer, workstation.. whatever. Just as long as I don't need to shoehorn it into Logic or whatever in order to get anything finished.

Favorite DAWs change all the time. I'd gladly change to one that did everything I wanted.

True that and to some extent it's a matter of software not getting swamped in loads of features ruining the workflow. It's why in many cases I prefer hardware over software, but Maschine does a fairly decent job being somewhere in between.

    16 Linear Audio Tracks

Bitwig Studio looks like a promising version of Ableton Live.

It would also be cool if Maschine were more independent, 16 linear audio tracks can be added along with better mastering devices. For example, each group has 16 sounds or instruments (keyboard mode), there can also be a selection for audio mode. The selected group then becomes 16 audio tracks that are inline with the scenes. So users can cut clips of audio that are inline with scenes (making patterns), or just play/sing freely through, from first scene to last scene (no pattern restrictions). Pads can be selected for which track to record on 1-16 (or multiple), along with the transport section.

For quick mastering a multi "tab" or similar can be added, so the user can drop 4 devices simultaneously. Rather then the need to select each of the 4 tabs to add a device. All 4 can be added at once, like a tweakable preset.

(I've already added a mixer in a different post)

For me, Maschine is kinda rough, but it is usable the way it currently is. And if I need a DAW then I boot up FL Studio or Renoise.

I don't think there is any need for an NI DAW. There are plenty of DAW's out there that cater for various workflows. NI have always concentrated on (and pioneered) software instruments and it is in that area where i think they should remain (Maschine can be considered an instrument in this case i think).

If they start concentrating their attention on DAW development then they would have to divert attention away from instrument development, which can only be a bad thing i think.

I would love if they did a standalone DAW.

If they did, for me, it is really important with these features:
    * Audiotracks for recording vocal- and instruments (of course, it's a DAW)
    * Tightest integration with Maschine with features as automagic routing to tracks
    * The ability to record mutes and solos on all levels for the whole song in one stretch
    * Tight integration with Traktor. Also here with routing possibillities. Especially from the remix decks.

Of course it will be great if they implement it in Maschine too.
Then we don't need no DAW :)
    Please NI!

Actually 2 trks of audio added to an already awesome list of features will seal the deal, as far as I'm concerned Maschine already slams the competition"

I just hope that they'll bring out v2 for free.

Don't wanna spend 600 bucks again.

v2 won't be free. But I doubt very much that it will be any where near this sort of price.

    Sure? ****.

I hope for a "full" DAW from NI because if I run Maschine in FL, it drains ~5% more CPU usage.

Maschine has never been promoted as a full DAW. It's a sampling drum machine with DAW like features.

Of course running it inside another application will drain more resources. It's a plugin that can act as sequencer and act as host for other plugins. Because of this, it will naturally drain more CPU resources than "normal" plugins.

Hmmm NI would have to fix the whole group thing. It's a concept that works well with Maschine as a groove maker with scenes, but as a DAW there would need to be the traditional layout of tracks..........and more than 16.

    I totally love that group/scene idea because I hated such a whole-track-line
