I have had a copy of Leapord gathering dust for over 8 months mainly waiting for one thing. Native Instruments to become compatible with Pro Tools in Leapord. We use Akoustik Piano in many of our projects and according to the Digidesign Website and Native Instruments, they don't recommend running together in OSX 10.5. Pro Tools just released an update (7.4.2) and seems to be right on track with keeping up with everything. But Native Instruments doesn't seem to have done anything since 7.4 and Leapord (in regards to working with Pro Tools). Any word about whether Native Instruments is really working on this?

I am a ProTools HD user and I have suffered from this situation too. I was forced to upgrade to Leopard when I had to change my computer to a new (2008) MacPro that doesn't run on anything older than 10.5. So I am stuck with Leopard. And as a result I can't use any of my NI synths and samplers.

I've made a support request about this but basically just got the same answer as can be found elsewhere on this site - that NI is working on the issue. But this was in April, so please, Native Instruments, if you're reading this - kindly give us Leopard ProToolers some information on when you think the issue will be solved. Even a rough estimate would help. I really don't want to buy another sampled piano to replace Akoustik Piano. If the solution is around the corner I might be able to wait a bit longer. Please talk to us, NI.

I also am a ProTools HD user, and am hesitantly running Logic through my Digidesign hardware until the software is stable enough to write music on!

    Please NI!

You guys are probably the leading developer for Software Instruments in the market...you guys should always be the FIRST to update and set the standard for other developers.

    Please talk to us, NI.

Now I am just confused. It sounds like lots of people are saying that they aren't seeing any issues with 7.4.2 and Native Instruments. I am now curious as to whether the latest versions of Leapord may have resolved these issues. I really wish that somebody from Native Instruments would at least confirm that there are still issues with the latest updates of Pro Tools and Leapord. It would be great to hear anything new about this issue since nothing new has been said about this since the beginning of Pro Tools 7.4.1. Since then there seems to have been lots of changes in Leapord and Pro Tools.

    But which version?

Thanks but I had inferred from that web page that the issue was for only 10.5(.0) and not for later versions ie 10.5.4.
Iam having major issues on macpro hd2 protools 7.4.2 - should the komplete 4 bundle updated fully work as tdm plugins? will komplete 5 solve these issues?
Thanks , gotta rebuild the studio machine again . . .
    Cheers

MESSAGE TO NI - Give us hope!

NI this is a message for you directly.

What exactly is the reason that we're still not working on Leopard 100%?

When Digi took their sweet time getting PT to work on Leopard they came out and said "look guys we're just going to be up front with you and tell you that 10.5.2 really screwed the pooch for us and you're going to need to give us at least a couple more months, but we're almost there!"

Basically - can you guys PLEASE give us any time frame or sign of hope that NI plug-ins will all work in RTAS?
    Something?
Should we just stop caring? :S

Even just knowing 'why' it's taking so long would put our minds at ease a bit. Is it a total coding disaster? Does Pro Tools need to change and we're waiting on them? etc...

I believe users are with me on this one and we deserve the truth, at least a small ray of it or a minimum some explaination as to what's going on with RTAS....as we do love your products and want to continuing buying them and supporting you guys.

    Thank you.

I guess this is Native Instruments support?

What a big disappointment. I was such a proud owner of Akoustik Piano and excited to own my first Native Instruments product (besides the kompakt stuff). I was definitely looking at Komplete and B4 and many of the other products here. But wow! A year has gone by since the release of Leapord and many, many months since the promise: "Native Instruments is working closely with Digidesign to resolve these compatibility issues and will release RTAS updates for all affected products as soon as possible." That is the only thread of hope that many of us are hanging on to hoping that Akoustik Piano isn't quickly headed towards becoming obsolete.

I have come to a conclusion that this must be Native Instruments Support. How frustrating. All of my software has been compatible for Leapord and Pro Tools for several months now. Isn't there a crossgrade for Synthogy Ivory somewhere? They seem to be on top of things.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed, in hopes that everything will be working at the introduction of Pro Tools 8.

...or will they have to start over? It would be nice to know if NI has been able to test their products on ProTools 8/OSX 10.5.5.

Since Pro Tools 8 is Leapard only, if Akoustik Piano isn't ready by Pro Tools 8 (a couple weeks now), then I am definitely moving on. There are just too many good piano sampler options out there to allow Native Instruments to hold me back any longer. At least I have got my money's worth out of Akoustik Piano. I have used it a ton and it has paid for itself many times over.

    still looking for solutions.
    can anyone help?
Does NI say komplete 5 does work with protools 8 or does not?

Had sucess if youd call it that

still cant get Akoustic p from ni aumngst a tone of other komplete softwaer runnig in protools 8.Im on the very new imac 2.93gzh os10.5.6 etc should be fine but i get more cpu promts etc.
tried everything akoustic p seems to send signal not only thru instrument track but thru other audio tracks and creats distortion and drone sounds then crashes.i get a bout 10 secs before crash.

As last resort i tried garage band and loaded it up with NI pluggins etc till the cows came home and still didnt crash....not a problem. Amazing!
It would seem to be a protools 8 brolem as Akoustik p works awsomly in garageband as well as battery and kontact etc.
And thats the only sucess i have had in amonth of dealing with it,i learnt lots tho.
    small victory.
    peace hopfully
altho mixing in GB is not so fun.....bounce AIF to itunes and import to PT8 and thats the best i have found.
    anyone got any better options?
    thanks again
    spook
