why do u think there is going to be new hardware? looks like version 2 aint gonna be here until 2012 do u wanna wait that long?

think 1.6 around march then perhaps in the autum of this year we may get a 1.6.2 or 1.6.5 then the next major update prolly wont hit till jan 2012 cos how likely is it that u'll get two major updates in a year?

plus it may well be there is a 1.8 before we get to 2.0 so waiting for the upgrade of hardware is long.

i don't think a hardware update will be coming anytime soon, and why should there be one anyways? the hardware is pretty much top notch, the pads are excellent, as are the screens.

All good I was just wondering.
I think I should get it now so by the time 1.6
Rolls out I will be more familiar wit the unit?
Also is the unit glued or held together by screws etc?
    Snaps together?
    Thanks in advance-j

Sounds like you read Jahrome's posts somewhere. Don't mind him. He's a notorious MPC supremacist that'll say anything to make the MPC sound superior.

The controller is one of the most sturdy feeling and solidly built controllers I've come across. Unless you're Jahrome (who admitted that he actually pried open the controller by force so that he could say what he said) or you have OCD, it's not likely you'll find anything wrong with it. The pads especially and the workflow is light years ahead of MPC.

it's screwed. the top plate I believe is glued I have had not a single issue with my hardware and actually prefer it's pads to my mpc.
and it's knobs to my novation remote sl.
that being said. There have been no mentions of a hardware update and that includes for the rumored 2.0
so I would say yes you are very safe in purchasing now.

Where are you guy seeing screws on the top of the face plate? Mine is glued like all others unless they changed that recently after 1.5 was released. The face plate does indeed come unglued. Some have had it come this way out the box. Others have it happen eventually over time. Well documented by multiple users. Mine just started coming loose at the top a month or so ago.

No one said they saw screws on the top of the face plate. The screws are at the bottom of the controller.
Not for me and neither for pretty much everyone else.
How many people are we talking by "multiple"? I wouldn't call a few threads involving Jahrome "well documented". Just saying.

No, you did not say the screws are on the top faceplate. Indeed the bottom is screwed to hold the unit together. But the comments about it being glued were referencing the top plate specifically. The issue has been brought up by various users many times before Jahrome even started posting in the Maschine forum.

Well, sorry to hear you have a poorly built one. Mine's solid just as most everyone else's. Get in touch with whoever you bought it from and get a new one.

I love maschine and it is way better than an MPC but the build quality is far from top notch.

Faceplate glue is iffy for me too. Perhaps it only happens on units sent to foreign markets (I'm in NZ)? Apart from that the build is fine, but the glue issue is annoying and it's the first piece of music gear that i've ever had it happen on.

To be fair, in my case it does not affect the functionality because it has not lifted up too far. Probably an easy DYI repair too.

Would like to see it improved or an optional upgrade though. I always wanted an upgraded controller with more buttons and a tilt screen anyway. ;)

I think there may have been a batch of bad glued units. as I did see maybe 3 or 4 users post about the face plate glue issue. I have had no issues. and would believe the glue issue to be in the minority. besides I am 100% sure NI will take care of you if you have this issue. just contact the appropriate channels.

I'm in Australia and the face plate was badly glued when it arrived. Glue doesn't stick along the top row of buttons and I have to press the faceplate down before use as the buttons get stuck under the faceplate if I don't. Other than that everything else is fine.
