    Hello--

I'm a drummer and just bought a new midi drum contoller so I don't have to use loops any more.

Can anyone recommend a good rock drum library for kontakt 4? I don't want to spend over $100 US. I want to drums to sound current--not dated. More like alternative rock--Rise Against, etc.

    Hey, thanks!:D

Studio Drummer is pretty sweet IMO. People like the Abbey Roads stuff too, especially the 60's kit. Outside of NI, man you gotta hear these kits right here: http://www.analoguedrums.com/products.php. Most kits under $30 and they sound sick!

Hey, thanks. I checked on analogue and they were all vintage sounding--whereas I'm looking for contemporary. I did go with EZDrummer after I looked around.

Ugh! I had to return EZDrummer as I record in 96 kHz and it took several minutes to load the samples everytime I made a change. Not to mention if you open the EZD interface, the host program would stop being able to play--had to reboot the computer.

Forget that. I am looking at Abbey Road and I see that it will play in the free version of kontakt 5 player, but does it have single shots if I want to use my midi drums as a controller? Do you know?

    Thanks m8!

You should be able to get the individual samples out across the keyboard, I don't see why not. As for your load times, having enough RAM and a decent CPU as well as a drive running 7200rpm or better should be able to load up kits in a reasonable amount of time. Then again I never tried at as high sample rate as 96K. Unless I'm mistaken I think Abbey Roads and EZDrummer are both recorded at 44.1K 24 Bit. As most likely most drum samples in sample players.

I've got a quad core CPU, maxed out RAM and fast HDDs--I also have other sample libraries (including kontakt 4) that use samples recorded at 44.1 kHz and they don't take even half the time to load as EZD. I noticed on their forum after I bought it that a lot of users were complaining about that.

Regardless--it freezes my host--so it's all pretty academic anyway. I see there are YouTube vids on Abbey Road Modern Drummer--so I'm going to check those out regarding the mapping and midi triggering.

EZD was a fraction of the cost so I kind of deserve what I got. I am a pro songwriter so I can't deal with the low-end stuff if it doesn't perform.

    Thanks again!

Thank you. After returning EZ Drummer I ended up getting Abbey Road Modern Drummer.
