Hey, hope everyone is doing well.
New to maschine and loving it, just need a few tips/pointing in the right direction, I'm trying to learn how to do everything from the controller only, as it's such a fun piece of kit to use.

What's the best way to sort one shots? I have drums in folders (i.e "Drum kit name"/snare/all snares or "drum kit name/kick/"all kicks" I can view the main drum folders but I can't seem to figure out how to only see in the sub folders from the maschine, so I have to browse through a long list to find a kick or snare I want, is there anyway to browse sub folders on the controller (Kicks/snare/HH/etc.)

Also, what's the best way to add and sort 3rd party Kontact libraries from the plugin browser?
For example, I have a free Kontact library that is listed under "Kontact/banks" when I switch to user, but none of the others seem to show.
I've set the location to all Kontact banks I own in the setting of maschine, but they still don't appear.

And is there anyway to draw in notes from the controller when in event view onto the piano roll?
Or does everything have to be recorded in?

I've had a look around for solutions to these problems but nothing seems to fix the issues i'm having or the suggested fixes are done using a mouse. I'm open to suggestions, sorry if some of these don't make sense, I'm bad at explaining things so let me know if theres anything else you need to know.

    Thanks in advance, take care.

As far as I know the folder structure translates to tags in the browser. Never tried it, though

Hi there and welcome to the forums!

    By tagging them:

See the 'edit' option at the bottom? Note that you cannot do this from behind the controller, only the software. But click edit and then apply some tags to your samples, this will allow you to sort them from behind the controller by selecting one of these tags (or basically: by selecting the right types).

Before the Maschine software will recognize your samples you'll have to point it to your folder, check the preferences for this (open the 'Library' tab and then check the 'User' section):

Here you see an example of Maschine accessing my Vocaloid sample collection. And before you ask: yes, I haven't exactly been very busy with taggging and sorting myself. That's because I hardly use this stuff; right now I'm more invested in all the Maschine expansions which are available in Komplete. And whenever I need Vocaloid phrases I prefer to use the actual VST ;)

    You don't.

Maybe you can save some presets of your own which you can then load within Maschine but other than that you're out of luck. The problem is that a Kontakt instrument needs to support the NKS standard before it'll be recognized by one of the Native Instruments' MIDI controllers (Maschine and/or Komplete Kontrol). So 3rd party libraries will only be accessible from within the plugin, but not a controller.

Well, my first idea would be the step sequencer but now that you mention it... I don't believe I have ever tried looking for other options :D I know you can move notes around.

    <fires up Maschine>

Yeah, I think I see what you mean. As far as I can tell the only way to add notes from behind the controller is to either use the step sequencer (select the step button on the upper right corner of your pad grid) or to hit record and play them yourself.

    Hope this can help!

You have a pencil in Maschine 2. On the controller I use copy/paste but very rarely. Take it as a chance: keep the current pattern as a variation and record a new one.
