ok so im a london dj and in a night i often have to jump from club to club now i previously and still own the serato sl1 but i refuse to go get the sl3 now i have seen the light (native instruments)
a typical senario for me is that the dj doin a set b4 me and after me wil b using normal cds the clubs usually have cdj1000's
now wit my serato sl 1 i would normally jus unplug the phonos from the cdjs out and in to the hardware then do the same wen i start djing to the other side but here is my problem with the serato sl1 if another dj wants to give me a song to play from his collection unless i have connected the thru channels to another channel on the mixer its time to start pulling out and fiddling wit phono leads in the hardware.
is there a way for scratch pro and the audio 8 device to do what the serato sl3 does which enables the user to use just 1 line per cd deck on the mixer and still b able to just put in a normal cd and play?
is it imperative to plug in to 4 lines on a mixer for scratch pro and audio 8 to enable juggling from normal cds to scratch pro control?

lines. they are line level! ;)

i think you can set the deck to audio through mode (click on the deck letter) and it should work.

i am just a little confused is it imperative to use 4 channels on a mixer or could you say jus plug in the tt/cd phonos on both decks and away you go?
do you have to plug in the tt/cd phonos and the line in phonos to enable audio thru playback?
this has been my frustration wit my serato sl1 having to use 2 other channels on the mixer means messing around wit the back of the mixer where as the sl3 you wouldnt need to?:S

It's not 4 channels on the mixer, it's 2 you plug into.
Let's say on the mixer Ch1, You plug into line inputs (R/W) & phono inputs (R/W).

As for your question, let's make it a little clearer...Do you need to plug in both of these cables into each channel?

Hopefully someone can now understand and answer.

There are 2 ways to achieve what you want.

    Option 1:

Use the multicore cable supplied with the audio 8. Plug CDJ's into 2 of the inputs. Plug the outputs of your cable into 2 channels of you mixer. Plug the through connectors on the multicore cable to 2 other channels on the mixer. The 1st 2 channels on your mixer is the output from traktor and the other 2 will pass audio straight from the CDJ's into the mixer so you can play normal CD's.

    This takes 4 mixer channels.

    Option 2:

Plug CDJ's into the inputs on your soundcard. Plug the outputs into 2 channels of your mixer. When you want to play normal Cd's underneath each deck in traktor is an arrow which if you click will give you the option of audio through. Set to audio through to play normal Cd's. This has the advantage/disadvantage of the audio going through traktor first. The advabtage is you are able to apply traktor's effects etc to the audio from the normal CD.

This take only 2 channels of your mixer.

    Hope this helps.
