so, i'm just about making a 8-part sequencer in reaktor which would work with my diy midibox.

the thing is - my midibox consists of 3 rows times 8 push buttons sending note or cc messages. every button is illuminated and the led is driven by an outgoing note or cc (don't have to be the same as the send cc's/notes).

now the problem - most of the step sequencers i've met (hardware and software) have at least 16 steps. as i just have rows with 8 buttons i have to somehow work that around.

now i came to the idea that instead of 16 steps i will have 64 to be able to makemore complex beats (besides with 64 steps i can achieve really glitchy sounds when i drive a few steps near each other)

now - the biggest problem is to midify the whole thing like i want to - i hope that you'll understand my point and that somehow we will come to some solution together :D

now - as i said i have my 3x8 rows of buttons. now i want something like this:

the first row is the row where i choose on of the 8 parts of the sequencer (each consisting of 64 steps of course). when i hit a button the according led is lighted - when i press another button the led goes off and the new led of the freshly pressed button is driven (that's my first problem - couldn't find a good solution for switching of buttons/lamps wirelessly).

now, when i have clicked one of the buttons on the first row the according led is driven showing me which part is active.

now we come to the most tricky part...

as i have 64 steps i have to divide those into 8x8.

so i first have to choose on the second row of the buttons the step that i want to edit and then on the third row i can finally put some notes that will be played.

okay i can imagine nobody really understood that...

i'm adding a link with some ensemble that i have made until i ran out of ideas really with it...

    so - to the file:

i want one row of the buttons make me choose between one of those 4 parts (will be eight later).

afterwards with the second row i am choosing one of the steps of the drop-down list.

on the third row i finally edit the steps.

    possible?

also, consider using event tables, and using XYs or something similar as the "button" display.
