Ok, ive been thinking of buying the X1 and the F1, but im not sure what other equipment i need, currently i have 2 x cdj 2000's and a djm 2000 mixer, ive heard that my setup can run traktor without the need for one of NI's audio converters, but im guessing, im gonna need a audio converter if i want to use both the X1 and the F1, is this right?

next question, does mashine need an audio converter? i mean, looking at it briefly, it seems to be a much more accomplished product that does more than the f1 and x1 put together, so would i maby be better to buy that instead? (the price is quite similar) or does the x1 and f1 have certain benefits over mashine from a dj point of view?

i know the mashine is more of a production tool, but im also wanting to play around with beats ect...

You don't need any "audio converters" (sound cards). The DJM 2000 has a built-in sound card that can handle all the outputs from Traktor.

Do you know what the X1 and F1 are designed to do? Like you said, Maschine is more production-oriented and if you have an F1, there's not much benefit to adding Maschine for Traktor use.

What do you mean by "play around with beats"? The F1 is the best Traktor controller for triggering samples, whereas the X1 is designed for controlling 2 banks of FX and handling transport functions.

thanks for the reply, yea, ive a fair idea what the f1 and x1 do, tho ive never used any of them, i was more confused about how everything is wired together, thats good news i dont need to buy the audio converter aswell, i think i'll start by getting the x1 and f1 first, then see if i want to get maschine at a later date, tho it looks like a much more serious piece of kit and id like to own one, just one more question, is maschine capable of the same functions as the x1 and f1?

You should step back and get a better understanding of the products.
The X1, F1 and Machine are all different pieces with different purposes.
You are talking about getting the X1 and F1 then maybe Machine later without knowing if you should get the X1 or F1.

You definitely will come out better if you check them out more thoroughly and decide which better suits your needs.

I'm thinking the X1 should be your starting point that will get you into Traktor with a strong level of functionality.
After you get use to Traktor you can then decide if running Maschine with Traktor or getting total Remix Deck control with the F1 is more important to you.

Just don't think jumping in with both the X1 and F1 as a beginner is the best way to go.
