I would just like to see improvements to all of the older amp models in GR. I think that in GR3, the ridiculously low BASS settings and high TREBLE on most of the presets definitely indicate some flaws with the voicing of the older amp models.

Apart from that, maybe a MESA MARK II C+

Yes, I noticed that too ... especially with the gratifier.

The Gratifier definitely but it is a monstrouly BASSY amp anyway. What I don't get is the Plexi's bright channel. I don't know what kind of Plexi they modeled this after but it was having some issues.

I was going through the meas boogie forum and listening to some sound clips of Dual Rec's. I found a guy that hooked the output of his Dual into GR1 to use GR as a cab simulator here http://forum.grailtone.com/viewtopic.php?t=3580

After listening to this clip I got inspired and decided to play the gratifier through the new cab models (Ultra and Hi) and realized that it's not the amps (or not just the amps) it is also the cab models.

Even a real Dual rec through the GR cab model sounds boomy and a little to digital.

I feel this way about the CAT. I've owned a few PrCo Rats and I've played through a bunch more. I've never heard a rat that sounds like that sim.

Instead of new models, how about a "build your own"? Mix and match preamp/power amps, design your cabinet, create your own tone stack, that kind of thing? There's a tone stack calculator program that you can download that has a lot of popular amps settings; I don't have the link with me, but do a search and you should be able to find it.

I've noticed that with the MUFF and FUZZ too.
I recently sampled Waves GTR3 and while the interface and features pale in comparison to GR's, the tone is ungodly.
I forgot what guitar amps sound like for a while.
GR is so "dead" sounding and my ear had become accustomed to it. Not that GR can't be fixed with some SEVERE EQing but my ear had grown too accustomed to the lack of treble and overbearing bass frequencies, now, side by side, the difference is very eye opening.
I still love the amps modeled in GR and one thing GR does have is punchy power section distortion, which I can't find done well on any other modeler. I just wish that NI would stop trying to pre-produce the guitar tones and attempt to get the TRUE sounds of the amps. I can hardly feel my guitar through all the Hi-Q attenuation going on. Much like pushing my Mig-50 through a Power Soak turned to the HEADPHONE input.
Still, as far as convenience is concerned, GR rules. But tonally, not even close to some of the competition.

I played the ac box through the new matched cab with snapshots setup for clean crunch with the tube comp and new sledgehammer. it was freakin awesome. it was easily the best tone I've had with that band in a long time.

    My list:

    Mesa Boogie Mark IV
    Diezel VH4 or herbert.

Imagine, in GR4 you have rectifier, Mark, Ubershall and Diezel. A heavy metal guitar player's dream.

    hi,

Some days ago i was talking with some band mates about new guitar amp soft simulators, all agreed that a dedicated ENGL Powerball emulation would be awesome... ;)

    Regards,

Is there no love for the Mark II C+?
It's the secret behind tons of metal band's tones and is frequently touted as the best amp Mesa has ever built.
I'd take it over a Mark IV any day of the week.

    Kidz in a sweet shop!...

..too right TC! I got GR3 a coupla months ago and I still haven't got past the Citrus amp! blows me out of my shoes every time. With all the eq's Cabs and mics+ effects thrown in it's hard to see any end in sight to all the possibilities...
Having said that I do miss my old Vibraverb that I had back in the glory days of Dan Lynch's,NYC.(anybody here remember that?)-be nice to have one again...

You can get really close to the Silver Jubilee with the Lead 800 (a 50 watt Jubilee head was my main gigging amp for a couple years). Use snapshots and turn the bias down for your "lead" snapshot (about 3 or so) and the response up (about 8) in expert mode (have the boost on here), with your preamp on 8 or 9. For the crunch, no boost and have the preamp about 8 or so and with the default bias and sensitivity. Keep your master for all of them around 7 or so.

That would be cool. I would like to see some Acoustic amp models - perhaps:

    SWR Blonde Series
    Fender Acoustisonic SFX
    Trace Elliots
    ?

There are getting to be a lot out there...would be nice to have a couple in GR. More bass amps too...
