Solved NEW BUG in Guitar Rig 5.2.0 - preset changes when opening GUI in Live 9

I clicked the gtrRig logo, and I'm running 5.2.1. I definitely have this bug. I have my own bank of sounds, and I save it with my project, and when I reopen, both instances of guitar rig show the list of all presets, not my list. Since I use a modular host for live work, I have been starting every gig by opening both channels of gtrRig and selecting my banks, so I have live access to the correct presets.....

The workaround used to be opening the gui on startup, so I wrote a script to do that, but that doesn't do the trick anymore.

I'll see if the most recent version is better.... I'm glad this is at least on the NI radar--it was hard to find the language to track it down!

 

Me too, I think that guitar rig should have a midi preset change like massive for example

 

Ok. I'm not sure how it's possible, but I think I found out where the problem is. When Live scans the plugins, it ignores a DLL if it already scanned VST with a same name previously. So if by any chance ysou were like me and had two Guitar Rig dlls, one old and one new, it would always run the new one regardless of what dll you've chosen in the list. ...but that way something got screwed up in the communication with the plugin, making Guitar Rig changing patches everytime it's GUI loaded.

tl;dr: Make sure you have only the new Guitar Rig DLL in the plugin folder. (78 121 kB) When I deleted the old one, GR stopped forgetting patches.

I've had a problem with this preset changing thing randomly for some time now, and I believe I've found a workaround, though I'm not 100% certain. It's worked for a couple of hours now. I'm running Digital Performer 9.51 on Mac OS 10.11.6, with Guitar Rig 5.2.2 running within my DAW. In the Presets section of the GUI, I typed a 'new tag' called 'Test' in one of the blank fields in the area under Preset Attributes. When I selected that attribute, no preset appeared in the list below under Preset Name. I then dragged name of the preset I want to use in this particular song on top of the word Test and therefore 'into' that attribute. Now when I select Test as the attribute, only one preset appears below - the one I want. I worked with the sequence and the preset hasn't changed yet. I think although the system may internally may be reading or generating some kind of preset change command, there's no other preset for it to switch to. Hope this helps!

 

GR 5.2.2 Reaper on MacOS Mojave. Random patch changes here, late 2019. C'mon NI pull your finger out and release a patch already.
