oh, it´s only a design study? Go on and make a real product and I would be your first costumer. I´m watching out for such a product, since the mp3 format was specified

    christian

p.s. but then I wont purchase traktor (it´s currently not the case) because this is a hardware traktor.

2Kilo: Looks good! But expensive too. And what about a (additional) mix controller? Faders, gains, EQ- & filter knobs, cross-fader and so on....

    Cheers guys

yeah, the idea would be for a whole range including a mixer, digital hub, screens, I/O racks, etc. Would be nice to use some kinda wireless technology [no cables] plus one main power feed through the mixer that also powered the decks..? And some audio Ins on the top plate [no messing behind the mixer].

You could use it with or without Traktor, [but Traktor has more processing features].

I would hope that making it modular the base price would be reasonable, none of the components are rocket science.
A standard record deck which outputs rpm data, a rollerball mouse, CD/DVD, two LED screens and loads of I/O's..?

I think the main idea is to provide as many flexible playing options as possible. Today with all the CD player etc available it's a nightmare, do you buy 4 CD players and 2 controllers just to practice on..? How about connecting a computer half way through a night, messing around with all the cables in the booth..? What about adding extra drum machines and samplers on the fly..?

I actually get quite annoyed when I see some of the controllers available, no decent bloody mouse control.
One hand on the controller, another stretched out to the computer and a foot on the mixer..?

Ooh very ambitious! I like that. The whole modular idea is the way to go imho. Different DJs have different needs. So there is no ultimate 1-box-fits-all soultion possible. Do you want to hook up with an established hardware/software company (N.I.? Stanton?) or are you gonna develop this on your own?

I'd love someone like Stanton to pick it up...
I think its best to let the people with the core knowledge develope these things [rather spin tunes, than hunt for investors]. I have emailed the web address around, but being realistic I doubt there will be much response from the big boys. I would be happy if they just listened a bit harder to us and what we would like, while engaging their brains for once...

IMHO with the competition between DJ companies and the variations on the market, they are killing themselves. People [I think] will bypass them going for computer systems like Traktor.

    Nice design -- but?

The design is nice -- but the CD mixing industry has already begun to look at

    DVD
    MP3

and all sorts of variants on the DISC mixing industry.

So that is why computer music DJ'ing is safe because the core hardware is still way beyond what you can put into standalone dedicated hardware.

    My 2 - cents,
    Kevin

I would suggest that you download and read the pdf file?

Modular and flexible - connects with computers [Traktor], hard drives, smart cards, CD, DVD and anything else that is digital...

The primary function is to control "any" digital media in a "hands on" analogue [vinyl] manner, rather than use a mouse, a controller, keyboard and screen, while mashing a mixer and giving Doris the eye across the dance floor ...
