    Getting a new DJ set up which includes these three items;

    Numark Omni Control - http://www.numark.com/omnicontrol
    Shure SRH240 - http://www.shure.co.uk/products/headphones/srh240
    Logitech X-530 5.1 Surround System - http://www.logitech.com/en-gb/speakers-audio/home-pc-speakers/devices/211

I know it's all entry-level equipment and nothing special but it's perfect for my bedroom mixing needs, the prices are insanely good too!

    Numark Omni Control - £230
    Shire SRH240 - £45
    Logitech X-530 5.1 Surround System - £50-£70

Can't really complain about all that for just over £300.

Last thing I need is a mini laptop to carry about, I know quite a bit about computers and already got a decent one but all I need is a literally overly basic mini laptop that can hold about 40GB music, use Traktor really well and obviously the odd Internet browsing and game playing. (low spec games like CS 1.6, can play newer games on my actual PC)

Here's the one I'm thinking of getting -

Now it's fine for all that but the actual major question is will I be able to connect all the cables of the surround speakers into the laptop and work fine? Or will I need to buy some extra cables or an adapter or something to get the speakers working? Also will there be enough USB spaces for the omni control?

Cheers, hoping to get a laptop for all the equipment this week so if someone could give me answer about all of it plugging in and working fine as soon as that's be great! Thanks again!

Oops, forgot to post laptop lmao, here it is - http://item.mobileweb.ebay.co.uk/viewitem?itemId=140582269273&index=21&nav=WATCHING&nid=10339113442

By the way that's not the exact laptop, was just an example.
Just need to know how the speakers would plug into the laptop, as there's quite a few plugs with the surround system. (got the same system already but for my PC)

    Cheers!
    ---
    Wait, I've just realised something..
The omni control has and inbuilt sound card, but if only has 2 connections at the back for the speakers.. and most laptops only have 1.

So basically, what do I do? Do I buy an adapter or something for the laptop or some USB external sound card for the laptop?
And surely if I do need to buy an extra USB sound card for the laptop I won't even need the omni control, just the stealth control. (omni includes sound card and stealth doesn't, stealth is £100 cheaper)

Any help would be greatly appreciated, so confused. >.<

hi and welcome to the user-forum,

you wrote nothing about the software you want to use:
    Traktor Pro
    Traktor Pro2
    Traktor Scratch Pro
Traktor LE (comes with the Omni Control, I think)

The main part of your setup (now) is the Omni Control, I used this one for more than one year and was happy with it.
The only thing I would replace is/are the speakers, cause I don't know if there is an AUX IN port at the back of the subwoofer.

An additional soundcard (of course a multichannel for DJ use) is a waste of money (99,-) the Omni built in is running in bedrooms and at parties very well!

Because it'll sound awesome when I'm practicing in my bedroom? Haha.

So what you're all saying is that all the plugs of the 5.1 system will plug into the Omni Control system fine? Because on the included sound card it only has 2 plugs for speakers and then 2 for headphones.. and to my knowledge this 5.1 system has 5 plugs:

    1. Black one for rear right.
    2. Yellow one for rear left.
    3. White one for front left.
    4. Red one for front centre.
    5. A big sort of cable (like a monitor one) for the front right.
(subwoofer is plugged via plug socket so that's fine)

So seeing as then Omni Control only has a 2 plugs for speakers surely I should just buy the Stealth Control and then an external sound card for my laptop which includes all the plug sockets?

Oh and i'll be using Traktor LE which comes bundled with the Omni/Stealth Control.
    ---
    So yeah, the basic question is;

    1. Will the Omni Control plug into the Logitech X-530 5.1 Surround System fine? (doesn't seem to be enough plug holes!)

    2. If not, should I get the Stealth Control (the one without the internal sound card) and buy an external USB sound card which has all the plug sockets for the X-530?

Cheers, hoping to make the purchases today so an answer to that question would be greatly appreciated! :)

I think you might want to slow down on your purchases and get your connections sorted first. The Omni has four sockets on the back. This allows you to have two seperate outputs. You really just need one of the outputs on the back (two sockets) and plug in one set of rca/phono cables. The headphone connection is on the front of the Omni.

Those 5.1 speaks are just adding confusion to the mix. You will most likely have only one cable coming from your speakers, the same size as an ipod headphone connection. That's what the adaptor picture above is for.

    Well it still raises the question whether I should either;

    1. Get the Omni Control with some 2.1 speakers.
    2. Or get the Stealth Control with a 5.1 external sound card and the 5.1 surround system.

They both cost the same, the second may seem more confusing but would have much better sound quality.
I will also need to take my laptop and Omni/Stealth Control to a gig soon, so I'm guessing the Omni Control would be easier over the Stealth as I'll be able to plug it in any sound system?
    ---
Would this 2.1 for example fit with the Omni Control?; http://www.logitech.com/en-gb/speakers-audio/home-pc-speakers/devices/5862

Thanks for all your help so far everyone!

Surely they'd create the exact same dilemma of trying to plug them all into the Omni Control?

    1. I'm thinking I could get this adapter - http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Console-Adapter-Convert-Single-Pc/dp/B0006U3ACY
And then use it to plug the speakers into the Omni Control but then it wouldn't be true 5.1 sound quality.

    2. So instead I could get the Stealth Control and plug into the laptop, and then get a 5.1 creative thx external USB soundcard for the laptop to plug the 5.1 system into to get full sound quality.

    3. Or I could just keep it simple and get a cheap 2.1 sound system and plug it into the Omni Control directly.

Could people choose one of those three options for me instead of going on tangents? The idea that is chosen the most out of those 3 ideas will be done. :) cheers!

why did you buy an omni control for £230 when the Mixtrack pro which is better by far only costs £170?

Bit too late now as no one mentioned it, any actual reason it's better besides the price and colour? Like actual reasons needed?

Just got the Omni Control with the Shure SRH240 in a deal brand new, happy with the purchase tbh.
Will be buying some 2.1 speakers tonight and a cheap laptop this week.
    ---
Ah **** that's really pissed me off now, should I cancel my order for the Omni Control an get the Mixtrack Pro? Is there any major differences?
    ---
Okay just emailed them cancelling the order, I will be ordering the Mixtrack Pro and Shure headphones elsewhere.
Guess where I ordered from Pixmania? Apparently they're **** at refunds, and take ages, which I googled them first..

"Because it'll sound awesome when I'm practicing in my bedroom? Haha."

It won't. As long as your songs are not recorded to be played over 6 speakers (it is not) you're 5.1 system has about 4 speakers too much. Stick with stereo. It's MUCH nicer to hear music on stereo. Trust me.

Stereo definitely best for music. Or you can use 2.1 system - two speaker plus subwoofer.

glad to see you changed your order, the MTP not only is bigger and more usable, but it has touch sensitive jogs that are much larger than the omni control. it also is recomended by many pro dj's and is widly used as a portable controler for gigs. the omni control really isnt up to scratch when it comes to gigging or pro use.
    ---
hmm, i would have to beg to differ on this. i use a technics 5.1 stack system in my home for my speakers and it works superb. there is nothing rong with using 5.1 in the home but if you plan to use the MTP output as your min audio feed, then go with the sterao speakers.

to get a decent 5.1 output you will need to use an advanced audio setup and output your mains direct from your laptop or pc and have your headphones run from the mixtrack.

otherwise the 5.1 will be pretty pointless.
