Please: append to existing older thread!

Guys, there has been a thread going for long already where many of the whishes posted here recently, were suggested months ago. The thread is here: http://www.nativeinstruments.de/forum_us/showthread.php?t=38041

This includes surround mixing, bigger font, better pitch shifter etc. etc. etc. I would suggest extending the original thread instead of re-inventing suggestions already made. Anyway, I hope someone at NI R&D actually read these postings, as there are many invintive suggestions that actually would make GuitarRig an even better tool.

I would love a really thick, lush sounding chorus. I don't like the chorus now available.

I think it would be a great thing if NI would produce effects and allow you to buy them separately to add to your GR2. I would rather pay extra then wait for the next update to get new effects. I would also rather just have the ones I want.

I know of this other thread but I felt like it was to far reaching. I just wanted to talk with other users about effects.

oh and with regards to the 'a la cart' effects option, I think it would end up being really expensive as a user to buy just the ones you wanted.

Fair enough. The suggested improvements (potential improvements at least) seem to fall in three categories:
    - New effects
    - New Amp sims. This have seems to have become a little "name an amp" competition.
    - User interface and conceptual changes, to make the life of the guitarist even easier.

Cartainly, mixing it all up in one fat thread can become a little unweildly. I just wanted to remind folks that they perhaps should skim through that one at least, as there pops up some suggestions here that are just doubles of things written there already.

I read all of these, collect them and post them to NI. So yes, the time you take is worth it: they do get to read them.

The cab sims are already 'convolution reberbs'... but of course, this concept could / should be extended. Convolution reverbs are extremely CPU hungry however, and how many would actually use them? Probably quite a few, but ... this request would have been solved easily if GuitarRig supported VST(DX/RTAS) plugins in standalone. Then you could drop in your own favourite convolution reverb and what have you, without NI needing to develop their own...

Personally, I never use Guitar Rig in standalone mode - always as a VST insert effect.

So while I think that it is a great idea to have the ability to insert VST effects into the rig in standalone mode, the convolution would be a seperate (and easily implemented (just take the cabinet module and give it a new GUI and file browser)) issue.

+1 for Convolution and +1 for VST inserts in standalone.

    :)

Oh, and on a side note, convolution may be CPU hungry when compared to other effects/processes, but on the newest CPUs no audio effect is actually "CPU hungry" any more.

So with a view to the future, this is the last thing NI should take into account with GR3.

    IMHO of course.

I already said it, but I really want it: digitech amp/cab warping.

    Reality check.
The only thing we need from N.I. is for GR to utilise 2 processors in standalone mode.
According to Mark GR is only able to use 1 processor.
So much for todays duo/quad core power.

This will blow any hope of using a convolution reverb, let alone a real good pitch shifter (eventide) live, with low latency right out of the water.

Especially when you consider that you will need the high quality mode on these fx as wel because otherwise these units will NOT sound any better than the ones we have now.
So even more cpu use needed.

N.I has to get their priorities strait on this app.
You can have all the fx in the world but if can't use todays computer power due to lack in programming all is moot.

Rant over all is fine now.

Guitar Rig 8 will take advantage of neural net and 100 core chips.

I'd like to see distortions that don't strip the low end out of the bass guitar. Many of them in the software begin to strip out transients on the low B string of my electric guitar! Also, I've received negative comments as a whole on the sound of the distortions. One guy gave me an eye-opener, he said, "cheesy, man".

So, yeah, improved distortions, please! Maybe some new ones, tailored for bass guitar!

to add to that, how about a tailored-for-bass wah; I'm thinking like that off of Rage's "Calm like a bomb"

So does this mean that only 512 of ram is being used by GR.
I have 1024 which I'm guessing is 512 for each processor.
I suffer from the audio disappearing, almost like its choking.
I've turned off everything thats possible to turn off in Norton
and windows update but I still get wierd things happening
with Latency and the choking thing. To be honest though I
know very little about how the duo core thing works along
with most other thing to do with pc's.Even with my very limited knowledge I still share your dissapointment that GR
    doesn't use both processors.

One thing I miss is a really really good tremolo. I can get both the vox and the twin to have decent trem.......but I cannot with the trem fx.

    Probably just me........

Have you tried the 'expert mode' in that effect - lots of options there to shape your tremolo. You can also use the LFO modifier coupled to any volume control.

Need a UniVibe. Badly. Very badly. And one of those octave fuzz pedals, like the Octavia.

someone put up a patch for unvibe that is incredible. I would hate for them to spend the time when you can do it very very well with the small stone.
