    Hey everyone,

So just installed the latest free KORE player. All samples are on the same hard drive as the app which is the main system drive as well (its my laptop) I am using a Powerbook G4 1ghz with 1gb of RAM. There is about 10gb's free of space on the drive.

Specifically, I am having problems playing most of the patches EVEN THOUGH the cpu load never goes higher than 30-40%...which is quite odd. I am experiencing lots of crackling and drop outs while playing most of the patches, dry or wet/heavily processed. The only real variable that I have been tinkering with is the "Output Latency" which defaulted for my system at "24ms". Most all my other audio apps, including other NI apps run just fine at "11ms" on my system. However, I have tried as low as "10ms" all the way to "48ms" with no discernible difference in audio output quality. Again, according to my activity monitor the software is using only about 30% of the cpu and less than 100mb of actual RAM (virtual RAM is almost 1gb - could this be the issue? is this a RAM limitation of my hardware/software?).

Would love to hear from other older G4 users who have the app running smoothly. What are your settings? I see in requirements it says "1.8ghz intel mac" so I am just out of luck?

Is there a way to boost performance so that I can play a patch without the output suffering? By the way, I am running Leopard, the latest version and my system is totally up to date. Any help or perspective would be appreciated (well, beyond the "you need to buy a new laptop" advice)

    thanks!

I don't know Macs but is it not the case that your specs are way below the stated requirement? Bearing in mind that stated requirements are often optimistic to the point of delusion, does this not answer your question?

I run a g5 1.8ghz processor with 1 gig ram (i think its 1 gig, ill have to check when i get home), only installed Kore player last night, using as a plugin to logic 8, i am experiencing some cracks and noise from the kore player, i suppose it could be down to ram its recommended at least a gig of ram for logic, so using something like Kore player at the same time may be a bit much for my system, having said that, i also use ableton live with no such problems, its worth finding out what the problem is as im VERY impressed with the sounds supplied with the free player. Also as a b.t.w., my soundcard is broken at the moment, im having to run my system through built in audio, till i get a replacement, are you using a soundcard with your system?

1 gig of RAM's a bare minimum for any machine running OSX in my opinion. Add to that Logic's overhead requirements, and your original thought about having too little RAM would be my guess as well...

Youre probably right about ram, I was using the sound "bijou child" which is arpeggiated in Kore player, if i turn the arpeggiator off in Kore, no more crackles!, ill just use the arpeggiator in Logic for now.

I'm having the same problem on a 2GHz Intel Core Duo Macbook with 2 gigs of RAM. It crackles and pops in both standalone mode and within Live...even though it only sucks up about 30% of CPU at most.

    Any help would be lovely.

Turn off airport if it isn't off already.

Well, that certainly did it -- so you can't use the internet from a wireless machine while you're using Kore, though? Seems like kind of a big bug...

No it's not. Wireless network adapters by design hog a lot of resources. And, the latest airport update has serious issues with audio apps and devices. For a "discussion" about this, visit the Ableton forum:

You know, I'm having the same exact problem as everyone else here on this thread....crackly audio on some of the same patches though the cpu indicator shows 30-40% usage. I'm experiencing slow loading times and for some reason the GUI shows up positioned in the middle of my 2 monitor setup. At 1.4Ghz. I'm a little shy of the system requirements so I'm taking this under consideration but I've never had crackly audio until I used this thing. The GUI is just massive...did it really need to be so big? I guess I'll consider more RAM but how do you explain the crackly audio with the cpu so low and with Native Teens' report I'm wondering if there's something up with this player?

    1.4Ghz. Dual processor G4, 1.25GB RAM
    Tiger 10.4.11
    Digi002R/Pro Tools 7.3
    M-audio Radium 61

You're under the minimum specs; look at my first post in this thread. There are reasons for minimums...

And, you aren't just a little under; you're at 75% of the minimum or thereabouts.

It WAS the Airport update. Problem is, when I tried to fix the Kore Player/VSTi's, I broke the Airport...

After several almost-fixes, now I feel I'm screwed...
