why? it seems good for inspiration & a transscript is really useful when you will use it quickly on a running production w/o messing around.

Ask NI why, I don't know.

Does gdst make use if k5s improved time strech and filters?
Will it allow to edit the slices?

Good question. When I tried the GD stuff in K5 I didn't really hear a diff. Could just be I'm doing something wrong.

that's good to hear, as a update of anything "plugged into a project" must be fully identical soundwise. ;)

But there can be an update to the gdst interface, to switch between "standard" and "enhanced" timestretch, and/or adding the new filter types to the interface...

So ist gdst updated in K8 to make use of K5s new time stretch and filters?
    Is there a update planned?

I bought and downloaded this ... Where are the 24 bit *wav files that it is supposed to come with?

I'm not sure I remember. What I have on my storage is:

    GDST loops in wav format
    George Duke Soul Treasures library

I think that once you double click on the "NI" DL, it makes it automatically.

Not for me. I only have Kontakt proprietary extensions. I did a system search as well -- no *wav files.

Ok, what I got as a DL was "George_Duke_Soul_Treasures.exe"

When I double clicked that, I got the other two extracted from that I believe.

It's been over a year now but you should have gotten a zip file entitled: GDST_loops_in_WAV_format.zip
I remember it as two separate d/l links, one for the zip file and one for the exe file. But my memory is foggy.

please would anybody confirm that it works before I buy it:

Can I use 'George Duke Soul Treasures' with Machine/Kontakt Player on a Windows 7 -PC or is it Mac only?

    regards,
    FM

Works A TON better now with the latest update (was really tricky and kinda a bummer before) I use on winx64

OMG, I got my work cut out for me, tons of GD wavs in projects must go back and see if I can use properly now (very excited!)

Could someone PLEASE explain to me what this is for? To me it looks like yet one more step down the path to painting by numbers for people who want to pretend to make music. Sorry if that sounds harsh but how can people claim to be 'making music' when someone else is doing the playing (with that someone else having already done the composing)?

To continue the art analogy, if an artist draws or paints into a sketchbook, using this kind of package would be like sticking cuttings into a scrap book.

If someone could enlighten me as to where I'm wrong (and prhaps show me that there's a genuine musical use for someone else's loops) then I'd be happy (really) to hear.

is there a list, that shows the Original Key or chords of the Licks?
I can find only bpm info in the name...

afaik, the tempo is the only thing (other than of course being divided into type groups) there is.

You correctly understand what this product is. This is a valuable tool for people who are adept at running a first class DAW and it does take a well-developed skill set to arrange sound bites and loops into a pleasing composition that is well engineered. If you are a skilled musician doing live performance and using NI products as a way to source up midi module sound libraries then move along to those products. Their products are well made.

Interestingly, there are some of the products that NI offers that are somewhere in the middle. As an example, Session Strings and Session Strings Pro present a tool and instrument that will challenge even the most accomplished musician to master and produce well-disciplined and masterful-sounding performances. The musician has to supply the mind to select the best chord or appeg. from the menu and then input the tasty chord progressions in optimal timing. To do this, cooperation with the soft instrument and a command of harmony are required, even if that be intuitive and homespun in your opinion.

Other companies' offerings such as Real Guitar and Real Strat can be used in live performance situations and require much practice to learn and master but once mastered are much better than you might first think. I have used them in live performance situations and have produced captivating arrangements. Remember, it takes all sorts of customer types to get the critical mass of user population to make these software efforts viable. I have no invalidation for anyone who contributes to the R&D and loves music in the core of their being. Snobbery doesn't pay the bills!

As much as you may take pride in mastering scales, progressions, speed drills and score sight reading, there is also a skill set required for DAWs and sequencing. It's all music bus... it gets air play... people dance in the shower to it. Some new age compositions produce theophonous states.

GDT compatible for Kontakt 4 full version?

I am still using Komplete 7 and using Kontakt 4 full version. Will the new GDT version work on Kontakt 4? Sys requirements say GDT is for Kontakt 5.

I checked only this thread to see if anyone posted a similar question and have not found any, or maybe I didn't look hard enough. I apologize if I missed a similar post.

    Thank you.
