Nicki, thanks, but in my case turning off sync and hard-setting the tempo won't work. I really just need it running at half the song's tempo.

Regarding programming my own "taps" track with 8th notes instead of 16ths, are there instruments with left/right trigger keys mapped? If so, is the map available?

    Thanks....

    Hi,

All strokes are available as left and right hand samples, including the taps.

The single hits always start at C3 and continue chromatically in a left/right fashion.
The taps are mapped at C4/Db4 (left/right).

    best,
    nicki

    West Africa is Excellent! :)
I am having a LOT of fun programming patches with it.
Sounds great, and has a groove sense that fit together very well with my taste.
    THANK YOU N.I.!

This is one of those things that is a "pleasant surprise" after getting K8. Not something I would have thought of but now very pleased to have :)

How to put drum patterns in timeline?

    Hi!

I'm really excited about the West Africa module! I have a problem though - once I found cool drum patterns in Kontakt 5 I can't put it on my timeline! I tried to record it to the Kontakt 5 track, but it records nothing (guess no MIDI input).

    What should I do?

Notes in patterns of melodic instruments - West African

Is it possible to alter any of the notes in the preprogrammed patterns with the melodic instruments?

I would like to extend the pattern set.

    Regards,
    L.

    Nice sounds but ...

    Hi
Nice nice work - I am enjoying this a lot.

    A couple of points:

    - it is a bit of a pain having to set the sync and host buttons every time I load a new drum set and audion the sounds. Could this be set to on in any updates (or as an option)?

    - it would be really great to be able to substitue some of the drum sounds with my own. I noticed that it would be possible via scripting. Is this hard to do? Anywhere I can get some help with scripting like this?

You don't have to multipost your request everywhere. You have made a thread for it, that's enough.

Is there any chance that West Africa can be set to play *half as fast* as the host tempo?
    Thanks!

Well, you could set the tempo manually to half of the host tempo (with the tempo sync button disabled) . Or are you looking for something else?

Thanks Solger for the thought. I did try that but of course it's not locked to the DAW clock. The mission here was to try to add WA to an older existing track that is a slower funk groove done at 168.1 BPM, but WA sounds like it's playing double time at that tempo. We were trying to build over the existing old track keeping the parts as a reference until new parts are cut but I guess we could reneder what we have to a stero audio track and import that audio into a new project at 84 BPM to have the reference.

I was thinking that Stylus RMX does it, by instrument, so maybe ... but I guess not.

Not sure if it might be possible to adjust the synced tempo of the West Africa instrument (to half of the host tempo) via Kontakt's script editor (in case you have the full version of Kontakt and you're familiar with Kontakt scripts). But I guess the faster option is to rerender your audio tracks ...

solger ... yea that would be a slick script ... call it something like "1/2 Host sync tempo" ... but unfortunately I'm not the guy to write it.

I don't see a problem here. In West Africa interface, disable SYNC button, then set the BPM to whatever number you want. It can be half tempo no problem - the functionality is already built into WA. Just use it.
