Hi. Does anyone have a list of the new instruments in K4? I'm particularly interested to know what's new in the world section. Thanks.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------

Also there is this statement from NI WRT K4 vs K3 content:

Does the KONTAKT 4 library completely include the KONTAKT 3 library?

Though a higher amount of sample content within the KONTAKT 4 sample library is identical with the KONTAKT 3 library, most instruments (NKIs) have been optimized, so that we do not offer a library update. The changes are not restricted to the "new look" of all instruments by adding new Performance Views; also the sound has been optimized in many cases by providing new impulse responses. Finally, many instruments now include more parameters and effects which are appropriate for each sound category and which can be additionally switch on when desired.

    Hope that helps,

    Ben H

Thanks Bartholomeus and Ben for taking the time to post. Nice to see the solo strings in Orchestral. I personally would have liked to see some more instruments in World but it's good to see tablas there and I am very much looking forward to the choir. Is it just one choir or are there a range of them - for example: a male choir, a female choir, a small choir etc?

    Alexandra.

Yeah, there are some third party ethnic libraries that work well with Kontakt though.
East West's RA is pretty good at a decent price.

About the choir section, it's divided into female (soprano, alto), male (tenor, baryton) and mixed. The patches in turn supports wovels and 'm', for which AET blending is supplied as well as separate patches.

That's what I was hoping for with the choir - I'm fairly convinced I will upgrade now.

Thanks for the link to the East West RA thing. I'm going to hold out for Best Service's Ethno World 5 which is due out in the next 6 months or so and is going to be bundled with K4 (although it won't have the K4 library of course so I'll need to upgrade first to have both.)

    Thanks for your help,

    Alexandra.

Isn't RA a PLAY library now?

Yes. It is only being sold as a PLAY library, and therefore wont work in Kontakt.

Does anyone know if the new sitar, tanpura, and tablas are the sounds from the North India Kore pack? I liked the demos on NI's site.

Do they also have at least some of the articulations available on the Kore pack versions?
