These are very helpful especially for those of us who keep the manuals in a drawer.

I just watched all 3 new tutorials (and saved them with Quicktime Pro to watch again later).

So much potential in Kore with Performances alone!

    Thanks NI for these tutes.

    Hey Henning,
I'm not sure if you guys knew this or not, but having Kore tutorials make this sexy little controller on my desk a whole lot cooler!

The SIMPLE things in the tutorial make me remark to the girlfriend in the other room, "You know that thing I bought? It's actually really awesome!"

    Thanks alot guys.

    Hi Henning

Please add my thanks to the video team (and to NI for funding the project). These tutorials are absolutely wonderful and have added enormously to my enjoyment of Kore.

I tend to spend so much time making music that I have little left to study manuals (or do other things, like talk to the wife or the various small people (grandchildren) that visit this house) so these videos have really kick-started my proper exploration of this device.

    Thanks again.

    Chris

Let me second, third, and fourth that. Incredibly helpful.

I've always believed in RTFM, but the time available to do so
...as life moves on (work, new marriage, even newer kid),
...as the options from NI explode,
...and as those options grow even more complex,
finding the TIME to read the manuals is very very difficult. Also, my learning style has changed and I now find the video tutorial format much easier than RTM. (Probably something to do with aging brain cells... :) )

Spectrasonics did something similar with RMX; NI is doing this with Kore and Kontakt (and I suppose FM8, Massive, Absynth, and Battery). And because of that, the two companies will always be "top of mind" for me because a) I appreciate the effort and more importantly, b) I'll be more familiar with the capabilities of both sets of tools.

Btw, I have both of the older DVDs (Absynth 3 and Kontakt2) and found them to be well worth the cost and am more than willing to buy the equivalents again when/if (I hope) you bring similar things out in the future. In fact, I'd love to see updated versions of both to address new capabilities...maybe just single chapters that can be downloaded so that between hard disk and the DVD one has a "complete" DVD with newer info. Be more than willing to pay for it.

    Anyway, thanks again.

    George

Btw, Can you make the Kontakt3 videos available for download? Right now they just appear as Flash objects in the window and I have to be online to view them.

    Thanks

Will the Video Tuts be available for download in
the Update Section like the Battery Tuts?

I especially like that Cubase is used as sequencer, cleverly hinting how useless MediaBay really is :)

assigning knobs to parameters in Kontact 3

Hi guys, videos were great. Is it possible to assign the Kore 2 knobs to parameters in Kontact 3?

I would l like to assign a knob to LFO frequency (In Kontact 3)

Also how do use automation in Logic? The parameters are listed as P001, P002 etc. How do identify what actual parameters these numbers correspond to? I know in Reaktor it tells you the ID in the little box to the left.

    Help is much appreciated!

Hi there -- great question, wish I would have seen it earlier. Kontakt can hold up to 64 instruments, each with their own seemingly limitless number of automatable parameters, so you first have to specify which parameter you would like to automate. You can do this on the Auto tab of the File Browser in Kontakt (make sure the "Host Automation" tab is selected and not the MIDI tab). To assign an automation ID, drag and drop one of the available ID numbers onto a parameter in Kontakt 3. Now that parameter can be learned via Kore 2 as with any other instrument. This will also give it a name so it doesn't show up as 001, 002 etc.

A little tip: if you use any of the instruments in the Kontakt 3 library, the knobs on the front panel of the instrument (the Performance View) already have automation IDs assigned and you can see these on the Auto tab. You can use Kore 2's Learn functionality with these immediately.

    Cheers!

the videos are very well made and helpful. but sometimes I hate this over-enthusiastic speaker, reminds me very much of the spectrasonics videos. I'm sorry, but this "the delete knob does EXACTLY what it says - it deletes ..." bla tries to communicate a positive message, but sometimes it simply gets on my nerves and pushes away the important information.
But maybe I'm just not used to this "American" style...

I guess it's hard to 'pitch' it to everyone's taste. I'd rather the enthusiatic approach to the monotonous drone of some tutorials.

In all honesty, I'd welcome this kind of info even if it was read by a hyperactive gerbil.

As far as the 'American' style is concerned, I heard a wonderful comment from a chap who was comparing the (usually good) American style of service with the (often indolent) British. He stated that:-

"I'd prefer to be told to 'have a nice day' by someone who doesn't mean it rather than be told to 'piss off' by someone who does."

Not at all. I was just having one of my rare 'good days'. Ordinarily, I'd be grizzling along with the best of 'em :D
