Well almost, mixer hasn't arrived yet.. Having a TTM57SL, its weird to have to pay for the software after spending money on a mixer that has a built in interface. Can I get some advice on what firmware runs best with this mixer/best traktor software recommendation? I have the cd time code already and will be running it with denon DN-S3700's. Any other suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thx, I really appreciate it!

Welcome and congrats. You NEED to have firmware 1.6 installed on that mixer. No other firmware version is worth even looking at. I've got a Zero4 with a Macbook and Macbook Pro myself (not used simultaneously of course) and I love it to bits. Not sure how well it plays with Windows but a lot of people say it won't work with any 64-bit Windows OS. That may be an erroneous statement but since I'm only on Macs I can't say. I will say that it works with 64-bit Snow Leopard just fine.

Traktor Scratch Pro takes full advantage of every feature the Zero4 has to offer, most notably the timecode features. Be sure to download ZeroEdit and the Traktor Adapt software (I don't remember if it's actually called that) from the Korg support page.

I uploaded a TSI for the Zero4 somewhere in the controllers subforum, you can take a look and if you like use it as a jumpoff for building your own controller profile.

One more thing; some people, including myself, say the headphone output on the Zero4 is a bit quiet. I've got that fixed with a set of Sennheisers coming from the UK, but since my buddy and I spin together at gigs anyway, I picked up one of these for $30:
    http://www.behringer.com/EN/Products/HA400.aspx

    It helps for several reasons:
    1) Allows me and my buddy to listen to the cues at the same time without having to swap headphones
    2) Allows me to increase the headphone volume to a level I'm used to coming from a loud-ass Vestax 08 Pro's cueing section - coming from the 57 you'll soon see what I mean here
    3) Allows me to save the stress of unplugging-plugging in headphones in the Korg's jacks. Essentially keeps the headphone jacks nice and new.

Thanks guys very much! Running a Unibody MBP so I shouldn't have any problems, question though.. Is there anyway to just buy the traktor scratch pro software only? I don't need control records or cds, have that already.

Dude you're only losing out on like $40 and it's nice to have backup timecode media anyway.

Yup. But the good news is that the Zero 4 is a great mixer with TSP.
I got a Zero 4 just a few weeks back (after bugging the sh*t out of TeLLy with questions for weeks).
Im really into it. I havent used the Midi side of things yet but when i get some time im gonna jump on it.

Also if your anything like me and TeLLstar you will end up buying extra timecode in various colours just for sh*ts & giggles.

Karlito, did you check the headphone mixer/amp I posted up there? Really works for boosting headphone volume. I'm back up to almost as loud as my 08.

    I miss my 08 (*sniffle*)

Speaking of midi, will I be able to assign it to control Video SL?

Yeah they have those in my local store, gonna pick one up.
The Senns are way louder than my crapola Sonys but im certain that the Headphone out on the Korg is nowhere near as loud as it is on the A&H 62 or the DJM800 i use every week at my clubs.

I need VOLUME in my cans or im lost :(

Not single crash with Traktor Pro using DVS or VCI 100.
Used 4 nites a week, every week. No issues.

I use the same Traktor as everyone else.

Whats version? I really don't care about the latest enhancements, I want the most stable version available no matter how old it is.

Rock solid for 2 nights a week, minimum 8 hours each gig (weddings...ugh). And every night I take it for a 3-deck timecode spin. I try to break it but it won't die.

If VideoSL takes MIDI, then the Zero4 should be able to control it no problem.

1.2.3 or whatever just came out yesterday. I'm on the latest version within hours of release every time. I haven't had a problem since Traktor Scratch was phased out in favour of the Pro versions.

Yeah im week into gigs with 1.2.3 and have had zero issues.
1.2.2 was totally stable but in all honesty theres nothing in 1.2.3 that would change how stable it is.

OMG Karlos I just read your post several replies up - you haven't even implemented MIDI on that bad boy yet? For shame! Without the MIDI it's just a VMC-004 with fun lights.

Speaking of lights...I wonder how hard it would be to swap out the orange and green SMDs with red and white....hmmmm....

Man I wish I had a spare to mess about with.

I know, shame on me. Ive just been too busy.

I have an idea for a 2 Deck TSI for DVS use.
2 channels on the Korg in full Audio so i can use the Korg FX and the other 2 channels in full midi mode controlling FX and some other stuff for just decks A & B. That means 12 knobs and 4 buttons and 2 faders per deck (i think) that can be used as midi controls.
But at the moment its all in my head (which amounts to jack).
