Do I need the Komplete kontrol update that's currently in the service center if I only have a Maschine controller?

I hear you Puzz but I don't get how you can tell so much about NI but NI can't tell us anything about themselves?

@The rest of us surely we can wait, we've been waiting for over half a decade and I'm completely serious. It's definitely coming soon and that is what really matters. Personally I'm as excited as **** and cannot wait for the update to drop! It's going to be major on two levels, for one it's going to be an update with features we do not currently have, and for two it is going to solidify and make known the direction NI is going in with maschine which in a way is kind of even more of a major issue because allot of people who have purchased maschine and whom are contemplating a purchase of maschine our currently on the fence wondering which way to go with it. I really believe with this update that NI are going to show us if they've decided to make user satisfaction a real priority going forward or not and that's the big deal here. People just want to know should they stay or should they go and I really believe this update will give us that insight.

I understand why a company wouldn't want an employee bogged down in their user forums, but I do believe there's a point in-between NO involvement and having a employee post daily. Personally I think NI is sometimes a victim of their own success...they've gotten very big, and big companies normally move very slowly. The loss of agility translates to taking a long time to release information and to make decisions.

I do wish NI would pipe in sometimes when we users start to go off into a completely wrong direction about our ideas concerning what's going on with a product etc. The problem with no involvement is that rumors start when people don't have any facts...that usually results in a lot verbal garbage being spewed :)

In a sort of defense, I have seen on some of their sticky posts that they put posts on there about updates as they are being released, or soon to be released.

NI could have a presence here and it would be hugely helpful. In fact, it would help sell products. Because of the latest OS issue causing problems with Sonar, Maschine Studio is not functional in my studio and we have received very little info regarding a fix. If they provided updates, I might be inclined to purchase other NI products. I refuse to due to lack off presence and updates. Cakewalk employees participate regularly on their forums so I know it's possible and effective!

    Frustrated.

With respect to the notion of NI employees participating on the forum, I'd like to point out that there are at least two or three RME employees that regularly post and respond to bug reports on RME's user forums...

Yeah, this is the only forum that I have been to where there is no response from the company at all even in the most generic of posts. Someone created this forum and all the social media profiles you would think that person would be able to maintain/track/contribute to them all.

In fact one of the persons most likely to respond to a question or post on the RME forum is none other than RME co-founder and board member Matthias Carstens. I think it's safe to say he has the measure of his customer's sentiments about RME products, as well as their respect for his presence and timely communications.

I'm one of the forum admins for Ableton, and I've seen first hand (here too) how employees participating in forums can just not work. Before long people get demanding and rude when they have someone to vent at, or too many people try to turn threads into troubleshooting or bug hunts because they know an employee is reading. Or heaven forbid a release date slips and then everyone is pointing fingers.

Don't get me wrong, I love and prefer how people like u-he and RME run their forums. That one on one interaction is great, no doubt. But they are also MUCH smaller in terms of how many people participate on their forums compared to say NI or Ableton. I don't know why it is, but once you get past a certain number of users interacting, mob mentality takes over and people don't seem to be as reasonable :)

It's the same when I've taken part in public betas. It turns into a big feature request forum with people demanding answers and in some cases complete feature changes during the beta phase.

Once again, a case of too little too late.
Most enhancements are to keep themselves and their vendors happy, not their users.
Only ONE bugfix from my list.

Well at least they are fixing the Sonar crash bug three or four months later.

    Thanks NI

Well, they did say that not all of the enhancements were listed.

They may have, quite possibly addressed a number of other things as well.

Then again, it's now a game of "wait and see".

Utter tosh. Other smaller software vendors communicate with their customers. They realise it helps improve their product. Microsoft, Cakewalk, FX Expansion to name a few.
    Please stop giving them excuses...

    Yup let's hope I'm overreacting..

However it says it is at 'final testing' stage. If so then would not expect anything else unless the documentation is inaccurate or out of date.

it's one thing to look at the patterns of a forum, but I prefer to look at patterns that occur chronologically. If you start at the root, you'll see that things are very different between rme and ni, it's not just about the size of the company or forum. The main difference is the kind of communication chronologically starting by the company. People don't act a fool over what they know, they act a fool over what they don't know, and when making feature request when they are told the truth and when every single moment is not used as an excuse for some marketing campaign then things remain respectable. this is a very old truth, what comes first leads to what comes next and so on.

In my 17 years of NI products and about 14 years being an NI forum member I don't really remember much comms from Them on any forums, I don't expect it either and you should do yourselves the favour of not doing so. I buy a product, if it works and I get what I paid for great, if not I contact support, which I hasten to add, over the 17 years I've had to do zero times, that's a pretty good company IMO. Yes I've had a few pains here and there but Nowt worth kicking off about. Not even when they went full dongle on us.

Damn, I really have been here a long time, who else remembers generator and the birth of Reaktor?

Struggling to understand the moans personally

Then you've never received a bum unit. By the way...dongles? Really?

Yeah no faulty products, ever, funny eh. I've got boxes of stuff from them when that's how they used to distribute it.

And dongles yes, were you not around in 2000? They weren't alone in it

I was still on CDJs back then and not into production. I remember in the early 2000's I was posting some stuff online for a magazine and came across this guy whose tag was Native Instruments. Coming from Canada I assumed it was something more traditional. He explained the concept briefly, and I thought no more about it until several years later. Wish I had been more curious from the start.

Well, thank god they gave up on dongles. I had no idea...
