Hi, I am after a new Midi controller for my setup.

I originally bought the Stanton SCS 2decks and mixer pack, but found the lack of buttons to use very un-natural so I have sold those.

I am after anything that would enhance my mixing, but im not massively into scratching yet.

I have looked at Vestax VCI-100, Numark Stealth, American Audio VMS4. These are around my budgets of £400 max(roughly $650 american). I have also seen the VCi-100SE on DJtechtools which seems to be better mapped for DJ's.

I have no need for a sound card as I have a Audio DJ4. But if there are ones with onboard sound cards I could bypass I would not mind those as an alternative.

Many thanks for your help all!

    Sean.

You got an Audio 4 DJ. But what else ? Just these ? The VCI100SE from DJTT would be great. A Numark Mixtrack (Stealth is dead) could also be a good solution. I suggest however to get an X1 with those all-in-one controller options, as the X1 will give you access to any features missing in the other controllers.

I have a Acer laptop, duel core with 4 gigs of ram, Cambridge Audio Amp running into 2 Wharfdale diamond 9.1 bookshelf speakers and technic headphones.

I also have a bergringher DJX700 and 2x1210's but they have become dust collectors at the moment becasue I am wanting to get the digital set up sorted before moving onto DVS in the future.

I am not concentrating on the 1210's at the moment, I just want a decent digital set up to get me improving before moving onto something more serious.

I have seen the new Traktor S4 and would love to get it, except in the Uk its £750-£800 so almost the same price as it is in US dollars.

Hope that helps a bit further.

I've just picked up a Numark Mixtrack and it's brilliant for the price - £130 RRP, got mine for £100. It has a similar layout to the VCI-100 - even ignoring the price, it's hard to decide which layout is better - and seems well built for the price - of course, it's plastic, but doesn't feel particularly cheap and nasty.

I'm currently working on a Traktor mapping for it to meet my needs - I had some issues with the supplied Traktor mapping (couldn't get decks to play properly and decided to start over rather than debug the issue!), so maybe think about the VCI if you don't want to get involved in mapping the controller yourself (but I think that's definitely a worthwhile thing to learn) or you want higher build quality, but otherwise, the Mixtrack should do everything you need, is a lot of fun, and is cheap enough that you can still consider other controllers alongside it.

I just checked out the Mixtrack, and I also saw the mixtrack pro. Is the only difference between the normal and pro the fact the pro has a built in sound card? Would it be worth pairing one of these up with a x1?
