    just announced...

    http://www.pioneerdjusa.com/gear.aspx?product=DDJ-T1&cp=3

i think this looks great - pioneer have really got the form and scale of things right in my opinion. i can imagine it would be an easy transition for people used to CDJs to use this. i really like the fact that it slides over the top of the laptop keyboard and everything just seems a lot simpler and more intuitive than some controllers around.

i've only used traktor with an x1 (which was pretty good), i'd be interested to hear what you S4 guys think of this.... i'm tempted - not sure what the price is though, probably expensive!

Dude it misses the samples buttons... which is the main reason why I took the S4 ;)

that's a shame. i guess NI need to keep a few 'exclusives' to themselves!

i guess this is part of the problem of these software/hardware combinations - as soon as the software is updated, the hardware can become out of date/lacking...

It only seems to have one aux input so no chance of timecode! Boo

To be honset, it looks like crap, and its pathetic that Pioneer is now running back toi the woods with a tucked tail after all the crap thats been going on in the last few years with them trying to reiinvent digitalism without success...

I bet their gonna charge like 1800 bucks for this thing...

To me these are the first cracks in the once ever so solid foundation...

It kinda looks like a Numark NS7 crossbread with the S4, but lacking the best functions of both originals (motorized jogs on the NS7 and sample functionality/loop recorder from the S4)

I don't really think the new pioneer controller is that great...

it lacks features that we already have on hte kontrol s4 and the layout is still based on their old looks.

controllers manufactures should start having a look in the custom market and see what dj's need nowadays

At the end of the day, if Pioneer can offer Windows user an ease of use / no drop outs it could be a deal breaker. Having left Pioneer in November to NI, one thing I know is Pioneer customer service is second to none. NI's is no better than a guy selling pirate DVD's from the boot of his car in pub car park!

I think the S4 has a more professional look to it! Although I do love the needle drop emulator and the all too familiar cue buttons!

only thing that's cool about it is how you can tuck your laptop under it and have only the screen exposed. that's assuming you almost never need your keys/mouse at all like with the S4.

think it looks terrible.... you think they would have tried to keep it looking like the CDJ and the DJM range... it could be so much better...!.. disappointed in Pioneer for this... glad i got the S4 now..!

The thing I have found with the new Pioneer products is that they are really plastic feeling.

The S4 is solid. I like the idea if the pio controller but lets face it, NI has nailed it pretty much.

    I con Cur...

Just looked into it... Nice bit of kit.. BUT.....

    - no chance of timecode!
    - No Samples decks
    - quite a few more $$
    - bigger and therefore heavier

All in all, in my totally un-biased opinion the S4 is superior!
Its built from the ground upwards for Traktor...
