using it as a vst in cubase. when you save a patch it still saves it in ksd. i see no options given for saving it as the new format.

EDIT: i just realized something pretty important that makes me feel slightly stupid: i opened fm8 as a vst and checked the version there and it says 1.1.1... apparently i have both that version and 1.2 installed somewhere, because service center says i am on 1.2.. so that answers why i couldn't save in the new format.

EDIT2: yes, it turns out i'm an idiot. i had run the 1.2 update but i had kept my fm8 plugins in the user library, which means they weren't overwritten when with the new versions. fortunately this made going back to 1.1.1 very easy, as all i had to do was get rid of the newer versions of the plugins.

So Cubase really works like that huh, you have to put vsts in the user library. Sounds pretty awkward to me, don't be hard on yourself :)

you don't have to, but i generally do. at this point i honestly can't remember the full reason why i do that, but i seem to remember there being a reason. lol. :) at any rate, i just assumed the installer would overwrite all past versions, but apparently it doesn't.

for those looking to update to 1.2 and try it out first, this provides a good tip though: if you're not planning on using the standalone version, you can save your old plugins, do the update, and if you don't like working with the new format, you can just replace the old files back.

Did anyone else here get the email from NI called "Tell us how we did in 2011" ?

There's a survey (very short) which includes a place to add comments. I suggest everyone lets NI know what their problems and views are, in the strongest terms....

    Something like this?

"The way you treated Kore owners this year is outrageous and insulting and made me abandon buying your products and investing my money in other companies. Kore 2 was sold as the perfect companion and only integral browser to Komplete and just after I bought it you decided to make Komplete incompatible and to turn another already existing product into the integral browser for free while trying to get Kore users to crossgrade for a lot of money. You broke the main function of my product on purpose and if I was not dependent on it that much I would simply have gotten my money back by alerting my credit card company. Your products are great and have always been but I lost all faith in you and I hope my fellow Kore users who do want their money back will get it back even if they need to start a case against you. Making the instruments designed for Kontakt 4 incompatible with Kontakt 4 and refusing to give Kontakt 4 users the original nki files was almost as bad a move. So, customer friendly? I've never experienced something this low."

the only emails i've ever receive from NI are those trying to get me to buy something new. even the updates for products i own i only found out about on my own long after they came out. but i'll go seek out that survey and let them know how i feel! thanks
