This is just for information on this pack; I covet this pack, but before such trouble, I hesitate to buy!

Do many of the sounds in Deep Freq make use of the new Absynth fx?

    Hi!

I'm looking for some original effects in Ableton. I'm also a Komplete 6 owner (and Reaktor user), and I was wondering which "deep" FX pack was more interesting for me...

I precise that I'm more in the need of "Filter and cutoffs effects" and "Delays" than "beat-chopping" and "glitch-type" effects...I thought then that Deep Freq should fit me best than "Deep Tranformation" or "Deep Reconstruction"...But I still hesitate between them.

What would be your advice, dear Surround SFX ?

For filter-like effects (filters, resonators), I think you'll want Deep Freq, though Deep Reconstructions has a lot of filtering, too. Both have a lot of delays-type effects. Deep Reconstructions probably has a little more sequenced effects.

    HTH,
    Denis

    Thx for your response !

I'll buy Deep Freq, then...And maybe Deep Reconstructions later...

Another last question (i'm sorry if it as already been answered elsewere): Can I only use REAKTOR with Deep Freq when I want to use it on a DAW (I'm thinking about FL Studio and Ableton Live), or am I forced to use the Kore free player while I want to use Deep Freq in this case ?

Ok, I found the response by myself...Forget about my last question...

If someone is interested in opening the 4 ensembles of the Deep Freq pack in Reaktor, you'll have to look here:

    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Native Instruments\Reaktor\IELibrary\Ensembles\Deep Freq\

I did not find this information on the .pdf provided with deep freq, so I believe it could be usefull...

Hm I'm having a problem with deep freq on mac / live 8.2. Just bought it today and installed the player (so everything should be up to date).

Well it kind of works, but many effects don't actually do anything.

I'm no going to list all of them :) but I guess these patches contain some component that's not working and then they are effectively bypassed.

    Some that are not working:

    - Bart Effect
    - BeeBow
    - Bombay Swirlotronic
    - Bore me to death NOT
    - Brain Souffle
    ...

I fed different sound sources (sustained, staccato, drums) and turned every knob including wet/dry and the sound does not change. I mean at all.

Other effects like Able The Kable or Ah Zid do work.

Any advice? I'm running Komplete 7 but everything is patched to the latest version.

Edit: Another thing that I just noticed is that all broken patches dont react to the variations control. Meaning that when I move the variations cursor on the upper right no knob is moving in the interface as if there was no connection.

Hmm, that is odd --- I haven't come across this issue so far, so your best bet would probably be contacting NI support.

Only thing I can imagine is that the order in which you install stuff might make a difference, or that you might need to launch the components (Kore Player, Guitar Rig 4, Reaktor, Absynth) in stand-alone mode once after installation so that all databases can update themselves correctly...

You had sowed doubt in me but I just bought DEEP Freq. today and have tested the effects that you mention on Drums files for example.
Effect is felt immediately, immediately. So look at your setup!

Yeah. I actually didn't assume that NI would release something that wouldn't work like this. So it's gotta be a problem that relates to my environment.

Problem is that my setup in general works fine. In fact its only Deep Freq that is not working properly. I checked syslog but NI does not seem to log there and as far as lsof can tell there is no other log file. Maybe there's a debug switch somewhere.

And then it's obviously bad timing. Since they just release V7 support seems to be overwhelmed. I contacted them a week ago but haven't heard from them yet.

    Sigh.

For cons, I did not note the names but for example, it don't work with a guitar on some patches of DEEP Freq.

    love Deep Freq

So far I am really loving Deep Freq. You can take an ordinary sound and mash it into something entirely new. Please continue along these lines with the next sound pack, amazing stuff...

This might already exist, but I would love to see a sort of randomizer within these kore FX. Randomizing some parameters of the effect creates a dynamic sound just within the parameters of the effect without needing to edit the original base sound and I like the results I get with those...
