Why are you doing the kext thing? Isn't that unnecessary now that the drivers are updated? All MacBook Pros should be good to go now, even with USB 3. What computer/OS are you using?

I'm not sure what your problem is, but I don't think it has anything to do with the kext USB 3 thing. That fix was for NEW MacBook Pro models that only had USB 3, which didn't work with the S4 until they updated the drivers. There isn't really a general problem with the MacBook model that you have. Did you contact technical support?

Do not use kext and the beta driver simultaneously. One or the other. Try replacing the original kext file and just use the beta. The driver is also for ML on older model MBP's.

Maybe you'll find more help in a thread that isn't about the new Retina Macbook Pro and USB 3. You have a 2011 MacBook, right, with USB 2? Also, have you tried technical support?

Hello everyone. This is my first post so please take it easy on me. Haha.

I'm planning to purchase the new MacBook pro retina. However, I'm also considering the iMac when they come out with the new one (which should have usb 3.0).

Is there any word on NI coming out with a solution to this problem out of the box? I'm not quite computer savvy and all of this "driver" talk has me worried.

The NI website still says not to use USB 3.0 which doesn't help my concern.

I went to guitar center and they had no idea what USB 3.0 was.... That also didn't help.

So what is the latest news? Can't a computer programmer just fix this software/ hardware? I don't want to buy the best stuff and then struggle to make it work. Once again, I know nothing about technical computer issues but I have to hope that someone is working hard on this at NI.

There is currently a beta driver to fix USB3.0 issues on OSX. This should be part of the next update so there will be no need for you to worry about having to do any extra stuff you aren't sure about.

Thanks ekwipt and count zero. I appreciate the info. If u think about it, could u try to post something on this thread when the update is official? If you can't it's ok.... But my plan is to use this thread to determine when the update is complete.

    Thanks again!

There is a special thread in the stickies in the Trakor area of the forum which NI will update when new versions are available.

so it's already months since I am not able to use my USB2 Audio 8 DJ with my new notebook DELL Inspiron 7520 also known as DELL 15R SE that has only USB 3.0 ports (no USB 2.0).

I tried to install all drivers available from NI, one after another, but still no progress - solution.

I bought a USB hub to see, if it degrades USB 3.0 to USB 2.0, but no success.

Now I am planning to buy a PCMCI adapter via USB 3.0 (as I dont have a PCMCI slot available) and then a PCMCI to USB 2.0, and hopefully this helps. Maybe if anyone has experiences with something similar, and esp. if failed,.. would be interesting for me to know about it. Ty

You tried the beta drivers and they did not work?
    ---
Actually just looked and the driver does not look to be BETA now so installing the latest driver should correct problems with USB3 on the new mac products.
