Hello - I'm a Torq defector (not by choice) and have decided on Traktor as my next controller/DJ set up, and I'm deciding on S2 or S4. If I get the S2, I I think I will also get the F1. From various sources, I've listed the main difference that the S4 has, that the S2 does not.

    -2 additional channel strips
-dedicated center-detented Filter knobs for all four channel strips
    -Snap, Quantize, and Master buttons
-more MIDI capability (to plug in CDJs, for example)
    -reset button to pitch zero
-Mode button in both FX decks for toggling between Single and Group effects
-a dedicated Loop Recorder section - adjust and create loops on the fly
-four extra Remix Slot buttons for launching clips from a Remix Deck. The four dedicated Remix Slot buttons let you trigger samples from the top slots of Remix Deck directly from a track deck. The S2 can use the cue bottons when you activate the remix decks in the middle.
-Use the Remix Slot buttons as either Hotcue 5-8, Direct Loop or Beatjump buttons

In Torq I never really use all 4 decks, but I did find myself using the sample bank/loops often, so the F1 can handle that in a bigger way than the S4. I don't see myself using Loop Recorder nor hooking up CDJs. I'm okay with not have the reset button and I'm not really sure about the snap/quantize feature.

Are there any other major difference than what I've listed above? Which are critical and which can be done as a workaround in S2 and/or F1?

    Thanks!

As an S4 and F1 user, what I like the most is having the dedicated EQ and channel control at my finger tips. Sometimes the timing might go out or I want to mix out the remix track back to a track deck. But a four deck mapping for the S2 will get you by.

Like anything in Traktor you can always use your mouse to turn Snap and Qantise off. Although these days I find myself using the S4 buttons for this in a pinch if I load a track and find the beatgrid is off, which is faster than fussing with the mouse in a rush!

The loop control on the S4 is much better as the LED feedback means you don't have to stare at the laptop screen.

Also depending on where you play mic handling in S4 is much better and you can plug external devices into the S4 (TT/CD).
