Hi guys, i've finally taken the plunge and just purchased a 2nd hand Traktor s4-and thought it was time to embrace new technology after 10 years of fun on CDJ 1000's.
The main reason i've steered clear of pc djing is just incase anything went wrong at a function - I'm a total numptee when it comes to technology!
Anyway, I'm now going to purchase a new laptop over the next few days.
From your experience, what is the best laptop and any advice on set ups/systems?
Any advice would be gratefully received.
Apologies if not in correct area!

With laptops make sure you get a good spec model. I mean make sure it has more than 2.0GHz of CPU and has plenty of RAM.

I would prefer pc laptop over MacBook due to cost.
Is it best to store music on an external hard drive as well on pc for backup?
    Thanks
    Paul

i'd say try and get something with a corei5 processor (or better) if you can and a min of 4gb RAM - any laptop like this would probably have at least 300gb storage (probably more) so that should be enough for digital storage. i keep copies of all my tracks on flash drives anyway just in case the worst happens. i have seen articles on intel vs AMD processors on here before - it's all about opinions and experiences but i went from AMD to intel and noticed a difference. I love my VAIO but have been in clubs and seen [good] dj's using brands such as ASUS / HP so don't get caught up in going for a particular brand - reliability is key. it's a bit of a minefield out there so do some homework - not that you wouldn't ;) You've got an S4 so get something to do it justice. All the best

As a karaoke dj and live singer, I bought the Hercules MP3 E2 simply to control volumes on Virtual DJ as I was having trouble constantly using my laptop trackpad. I now use it to mix tracks rather than just setting VDJs automix because it is so easy to use! So it's ideal for beginners and amateurs and makes playing music that bit more professional and a lot more fun! It might not feel particularly sturdy or rugged, but for the price you're getting a great little bit of kit. Top marks from me - I love it!
