yes you can, but it makes no sense! Maschine lives from it's hardware. There are way better pure software solutions for the things it can do.

So if you're thinking of getting a cracked copy, get something else :p

no not really i dont believe in getting cracked applications i heard some people at school talking about it but anyway i was looking for an app something like it that i can operate without the hardware. i just recently picked up the interest for making my own beats but i dont want something that i need hardware because when im not at school im at work and it will be a hassle taking anything other than my laptop with me.....i just want something to do in my free time thats all

well, i suggest you don't buy Maschine, because you really need the hardware to get the best out of it, and remember you are also paying for the hardware if you buy it.

having said that, the Hardware is really great!

Hey, i recommend Fxpansion Guru for a very good groovebox and drum machine. Its easy to use, and easy to use software only without any controllers, although i highly recommend using it with drum pad such as korgpad kontrol or akai ones or trigger finger.

Another option is BPM-motu which has more extensive options and a much bigger sample library-albeit more expensive! Go for Guru, probably the cheapest option and most well supported supported forum on the fxpansion site.

The only reason i went for maschine was its hardware integration, although its missing many features Guru already has implemented! Updates please!

I recommend FL Studio (Fruity Loops). Relatively cheap, works well with 3rd party programs, great for learning the ropes of music producing, and most importantly for you it works great with no hardware. You can use the qwerty keyboard on your laptop as a drum pad if you want.

I really don't know why you are writing this.
If there is one software that is definitely NOT suitable for beginners than it is reaktor.
Apart from this is reaktor even if it is theoretically possible the most uncomfortable way to make music just with one app.
That is the problem with the internet... everybody can give advice and no one controls it.

@threadstarter: do not buy reaktor as your first musicsoftware!

depending on how serious you want to do it I would recommend to check out demos of logic, cubase, albeton live, reason, fruity loops and decide then. These programs are made for music PRODUCTION and compared to reaktor realtively easy to learn.
