new traktor s2 mk2 3 times Crashed. whats going on?

Hey, calm down, I suggest you to have an alternative way to play your set. I always keep a USB stick in my pocket ready to be plugged in a CDJ.

 

I email the support team @ NI this was the response I got

Hello Devon DamniT,
we found that on some computers a startup crash might occur when there are
differing sample rates set in the Windows control panel for multiple output
routings. This issue concerns only specific driver versions of some audio
interface. Please try the following to fix this and let us know if it helps:
- Open The Windows "Control panel".
- Go to "Hardware and Sound".
- Click on the "Sound" icon.
- Now you should see a list of icons referring to all routing options on your
computer. You have separate tabs for outputs and inputs.
- Now make sure that you set the same sample rate for each icon. We recommend to
set everything to 44100 Hz.
- To change the sample rate, double click an icon and open the "Advanced" tab.
Under "Standard format" select an entry which contains 44100 Hz, e.g. "2 channel,
16 Bit, 44100 Hz (CD quality)"
- Repeat this for all input and output icons.
- Now start the NI software and report back if the crash is still occurring.

a aplaude your anger , if everyone got that angry with Native they might just do something about it .
The thing is we sit here and type , and hope that they are going to do something about it … but they don't even come on here and answer questions They hardly ever answer "ticket requests" they just fob you off with a hyperlink saying read this .
Nobody at NATIVE actually takes ownership of the problem .

And whilst all of this is going on they keep churning out more controllers . keeping sales high but not actually fixing the concerns of customers that have shelled out a fortune for their equipment.

I write on many music forums and i have posted my thoughts about my daily disappointment with traktor/native . At least by doing so we may help stop some other unsuspecting fool from buying their second rate equipment. They really have a lot to do to catch up with the real market leaders . They should start by looking afar their existing customer base.

I bought the S2mk2 (it's a great machine also) and also bought traktor dj for fun and it runs pretty good on my IPH4 not to gig standards but enough to have fun. I used it a bit on my lappy and things look good but I also have the mk1s2 which works flawlessly with my set up.

Eventually the Ipads and the like will be replacing laptops Just not right now. Professional djs use professional proven gear and I want you guys to think about that for a minute.

Anybody betting their dj livelihood by banking on something fresh off the shelf and fail to have something to fall back on is just plain NUTTS and deserve the strife they put themselves into.

In this world everything that comes out new is not 100% and needs a few months at least to get worked out, this especially if it takes a mixture of different companies and different products to work together to get the results that your looking for.

 

Tonight I played a nearly three hour set without the display crashing. The only problem I had been having was the displays and lights on the S4 MkII freezing. I never had any issues and everything could be fixed by power cycling the S4.

So, see if this works, Mavricks people:

Tracktor and OSX all the latest versions. Running the setup wizard and changing only the layout just enough to see both main decks, your FX, your remix decks, and there should be just enough screen space for two lines of tracks in the browse window (on non-retina MBP).

With power cord attached all energy saving is OFF. Drives will always spin, no screen saver, nothing like that.

Wifi is OFF.

I also ran this way for four or five hours of practice at various times this week and haven't seen a crash in some time. I think I've fixed the issue, at least for me.

As for the Traktor DJ dialogue...it's impressive, but compared to Traktor Pro it's nothing but a toy. This really shows what eight times the memory, 50 times the storage, etc that you get with a real computer a good for.

 

As I wrote in another thread I own a S4 mk2 not S2 and my controller has never caused a Traktor crash, just freezing lights 2 times in 33 gigs, that's not perfect but at least the music never stops. In the club where I work (opened every night) there are 7 resident DJs, 5 are using Traktor and 2 Serato, in 6 months I never heard a problem coming from the Traktor users, but music already stop 3 times for the DJs using Serato so:

For Whiley: Yes you are right, small devices are funny but I really hope that DJs still continue work and support laptops instead of Pads, I hate to put my dirty fingers on the display I am old school, in a world where small devices are rising more and more I still prefer laptops for any professional and business use.

 

hello people again. this is my topic. i have work enough to get asolution on this problem. ihad a macbook with core duo 2/4gb/2.4ghz i sold it to buy a new macbook with i5 2.5/4gb. i give the s2 mk2 back and replaced with a new. So i will tell you what i note. with my new macbook my s2 crashing when i push it with a hard style of scratch. e.x. when i start to stratching too much and i use the flux mode. so i notice and something else.. i can play simple with out scratching.. and my s2 crashed in 1 hour.. i closed and re-open it.. and keep playing music.. for 6 hours does not crashed.. so wearing situation.. im waiting 2 months.. if native instruments appears a new update for mk2 but nothing..discontented. i have done everything.. and natives i dont see to do something to help us. i love my old S2.. now with the S2 MK2 just..disappointed.

 

My s4mk2 lights and meters are also hanging ...

I myst say, its only happening when im using effects ... I know this because i tried em out when i got the unit, resulting in 1 lights-crash ... After that i was concentrating on the mixing and didnt use the effects anymore, no problems at all during this period.

Today i did 5 hours extensive effects use ... Resulting in two lights crashes, and two complete freezes with sound freeze crash !

I know it has something todo with the load of traktor or my pc is having
I have an electric ground loop issue, wich i can hear trough the music when for example i scroll down really fast on a browser window, i hear clicking/scratchy sounds.
Also today i noticed allot more clicking/scratchy sounds as usual just by using the effects
Right before the total crashes i could hear the clicking/scratching sound building up, and eventualy freezing ...

Im using a two month old acer windows 8 laptop of 1000 euro

 

ver. 2.6.6 has been released . The issues listed as fixed are

•Remix Deck mappings for MASCHINE controller

•Fixed Metadata Sync with TRAKTOR DJ and iOS 7

•Fixed crash when selecting a custom Root Directory location

anyone tried it and see if by some stroke of luck the light freeze/ crash issue is resoved ??

 

2.6.6 sucks, I'm thinking to downgrade sometimes

 

I have downgraded .
2.6.6. lost all may saved playlists and required a total new wizard set up .
i managed to drag my playlists back through my time machine ,
But 2.6.6. resulted in a bug that was loosing Start up disc space. there was what seemed to be a constant drain / loss on Gig. which after a few hours had used all my start up disc space .

i reverted to 2.6.5. , dragged back my playlists , cleaned out space and created space again , and since have only had 2 problems

i had 1 minor crash was playing out live , i had everything else in the background turned off , BUT and this i a first , it only stalled , the lights dimmed again , the digital loop numbers disappeared . i went to turn off the main switch at the rear BUT DIDNT ACTUALLY TURN OFF as the lights all came back on .

And the other was a total freeze ( at home) whist using the low / mid/ hi buttons vigorously.

I did open up a ticket with Native Instruments , and they sent the standard issue "we are very busy" . But since that … no further reply as usual.

every time I email them back from the original ticket I open , I get a response every 3 to 4 days the last one said

Hence ive asked how many of you guys are still having the issue with 2.6.6 . we are currently doing tests on a MacBook pro and a win 8.1 machine so I can be quite clear when I email back my response to them

 

I Devon, I guys also I have the same problem. I'm running with 2.6.6 with Imac osX 10.9 and latest version of firmware for S2.
I have already open a ticket to NI (same answer). Tomorrow i'll try with a new mail to help desk, but I think that we have to wait for the next patch I hope in the next month.

Hey Guys, I'm also running an S4 Mk2 running 2.6.6 and here I am sat with a frozen unit in front of me, so came on here looking for answers.

Keeps happening, sometimes just the LCD displays vanish, sometimes all the light freeze but I still have control.

Guess I'm not the only one... okay time to open one of these ticket things.

Setup

ASUS N56V, Intel i5-3210M 2.5GHz, 6Gb RAM, USB 3.0, NVidia GeForce GT 630M 2GB, Windows 7

Traktor Kontrol S4 mk2, Traktor 2.6.6, KRK Rokit 6 Monitors, Roland TD15K V-Drums

 

Are all these crashing and issues with just the s2 and s4 mk2? Or is it happening with the mk1 versions as well? It would be nice to know if this is a hardware or software issue.

 

Seems to be only the MK2 versions , cuz I own the Mk2 and have the MK1 currently testing .. issues only happen with the MK2 on both windows 8.1 / windows 7 and Mac

 

Hello, I'm running with S2-MK2 and I have the same problem with IMAC OSX 10.9. Probably, but this is not a certanty, the problem doesn't appear with IOS. Yesterday I worked 3 hours with and IPAD IOS 7 and I haven't any problem. But, I repeat, it could be a positive occurence.
