It was there in 1.5, and sadly missed in 1.6. I'm glad NI came back to their senses. Hopefully they don't go changing it back for some dumb reason.

    +1 for sure

How can NI advertise enhanced plug-in compatibility when my Macbook Pro can only run about 5 instruments with Absynth loaded? I understand that I can render those as audio files, but it is an extreme pain in the but and hinders my workflow.

MULTI-CORE PLEASE! (...and the other stuff, but i dunno how important pattern merging is)

Just because your specific setup has CPU issues doesn't mean others experience the same thing. Everyone uses plugins differently and use different plugins and different number of plugins not to mention the amount of ram you're running...etc. My 4-year old MacBook Pro has been handling things fine without running into any CPU issues. And I use heavy plugins like Massive.

In fact, they've optimized CPU usage for the 1.7 update and for Komplete 8. Its been documented here that you can now run way more plugs than you could with 1.6.

Anyway, I just don't get people constantly begging for multicore and built-in timestretch. NI have already stated that all of those most requested features are definitely coming, when they're ready. Whining constantly is not going to make them come faster. Assuming that NI haven't thought about it and needed you to make a fuss just reveals you haven't paid enough attention. Read the On The Record sessions before you post, people.

Jeez I must be doing something incorrectly! My 5 year old iMac Intel Core Duo 3gb memory was the computer I was referring to that was giving me such problems handling plugins. I understand it is an old computer, but it seems like your Macbook of similar age is faring much better.

However, the iMac in question can run Logic 9 with about 9+ instances of Absynth/Massive/etc without a blip so I was assuming that the issue had to do with multi-core processing (because the ram seems to be sufficient for Logic...)

In addition, my 2.26 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo 2Gb memory (I know, 4gb is on my shopping list) handles ~5 plugins on Maschine WONDERFULLY.

This is the only reason I bring this up.

I'm sorry, that comment was also related to my personal issue with my computer not handling 1.7 (at least any better than 1.6) concerning NI plug-ins (hence my frustration).
