I have just purchased a Traktor Kontrol S2 and have been trying to set it up today.

I am using my S2 as a mixer, but running it through my MAC laptop, which is then connected to a speaker setup. So, to be clear, the speakers are not plugged directly into my controller, but are instead plugged into my laptop.

My issue is that I can't seem to setup my audio so that I can hear the output sound from the speakers AND hear the sound through my headphones by pressing the CUE button.

In Audio Setup I have switched the device between 'Built-IN' and 'Traktor Kontrol S2'...if I select 'Built-In' I am unable to hear any sound through my headphones, but I can hear it through my speakers.

If I select 'Traktor Kontrol S2' I am able to hear the sound through my headphones...although if I press the 'CUE' button it does nothing. The speakers do not pick up the sound, so I can only hear it through my headphones !

Does anyone know how I may configure my audio setup so that I can hear music through my speakers, and then when I press the CUE button to hear that music from my headphones !

Another quick question, the battery-power button has been flashing since I turned on my controller, despite it being plugged into a power outlet...am I supposed to 'charge' the controller before using it?

    Someone help! Thanks!

I'm pretty sure that you cannot do what you are trying to achieve using the standard soundcard in your laptop. You would need another soundcard to route the cue signal through, or need a sound card with multiple outputs.

Why are you not running your main output from your controller to your speakers? That's what the controller was designed for. It has the necessary soundcard to support multiple outputs so that the main and cue signals can be routed separately. My advice would be to use the controllers on-board soundcard and not the laptop's soundcard.

I'm not sure of your battery issue as I don't have a flashing light when my S4 is plugged into a power source. I can tell you that you don't need to 'charge' the controller.

    Good luck!

Well I'm using a 'Logitech' speaker setup (subwoofer and two side-speakers) - reasonably good sound, and have been using them with my Vestax-Spin that I had previously to the S2 Kontroller.

I would plug these directly into the controller, but the slots on the back of the controller are too thick for either the 'green-tipped' wire (that i would usually plug into my laptop) or the speaker sockets connected to the side-speakers (which are supposed to be plugged into the back of the subwoofer)

I would imagine I am going to need to buy new speakers? If so, what kind of speakers am I looking for (as obviously I need ones that will be able to plug into the kontroller!)

    Thanks!

I'm guessing that your computer speakers have a mini stereo (just not sure about the stereo part or not, but it should be) jack?

If you do you can buy a cable to convert mini stereo to 1/4" left and right like the one shown here http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/408228-REG/Hosa_Technology_YMP_434_Stereo_Mini_Female_to.html. I'm sure that your local guitar center or dj retailer will have something similar.

Otherwise you could invest in a pair of powered monitors that will connect to the controller either via 1/4" mono (l&r) or analogue rca (l&r).

    Hope this helps.

Thanks for the fast replies !

This actually looks like it may work, and saves me buying a new set of speakers!

I will buy some jack plugs tomorrow and see how it goes !

You can use either the mini(female) to 1/4" (Left & Right) or the mini(female) to RCA as dannybryne29 has suggested above.

    Enjoy the music!

Thanks guys - your suggestions have helped me as well.

Just another quick question - currently I am routing my speakers to the PC, which is connected to the S2 via USB. The sound quality is very bad and it breaks up easily.

If I do connect the speakers directly to the S2, the sound quality should improve right?

    Thanks!

    Issues Connecting traktor S2 AGAIN!

Hi Gys, I am new the forum, I hope you can help.

I have a new Traktor S2 all set up, along with a MAC Pro and a Amp with 2 x speakers coming from it)

My problem is that I am not able to hear any sound at all via the headphones ( or cueing). I have checked that my headphones work with a spare pair to be sure but seems no sound will come through it.

I have the 2 RCA Phono's going from the Traktor (Output section) to an input to my amp and sound / mixes come through but no cueing or headphones sound.

Do I need to connect a larger headphone Jack to Phono ( MAIN Output section on Traktor) cable to go into the AMP for this work instead ?
