I have just discovered traktor and have been getting excited reading the website and forums. I need some advice on what to buy with my money. I have around 400 euros to spend, but I'm willing to spend a bit more to get good value for money. 200 will go on traktor 3 software, so that leaves 200(+) for hardware.

I am mainly interesting in mixing mp3 and don't need scratching capabilities. I have a decent computer (windows xp pc) with an old Soundblaster Live! card. I want to be able to listen to the track being cued up via my headphones and possibly have some external mixing controls.

Is there a decent product that will allow both? Or should I spend all the cash on a decent soundcard and get a separate mixing controller at a later date? If so, what soundcard should I get? Is the AUDIO KONTROL 1 good value for money? Is there a place in the setup for my soundblaster live?

After further digging, I've come up with four options:

    1) Hercules DJ Console MK2
    2) Behringer BCD 3000
    3) M-Audio X-Session Pro + M-Audio FastTrack USB
    4) M-Audio X-Session Pro + Internal card

Which is the best option to go for? Should this thread be moved to "Computer Technology and Setup"?

The m-audio stuff only comes bundled with torq LE, but some of the devices on the market come with Traktor LE which has a discount upgrade path to full Traktor. So you might want to check out the Vestax VCI-100 or the Numark total control.

    Update:

After even more digging I've now decided to buy the Numark Total Control, as it means I can get Traktor 3 for 99 euro via the upgrade option and the Numark looks cool.

I am going to purchase this with an external soundcard, but I haven't decided which one.

Which is best value for money:

    1) M-Audio Fast Track.
    2) Numark DJ I/O.
    3) M-Audio Firewire Audiophile.

    If Mac: 3)
If PC: 1), but make it the "Pro" version (unless you don't want to cue in your headphones)
