Hi I'm completely new to djing and setting up my first kit. I am not new to making electronic music. At first I was all about buying a set of CDJs, but its proving to be hard to get a reliable product with my budget. Can Traktor Pro be used feasibly without a turntable or mixer? Can the X1 control panel be used in place of a traditional turntable entirely? I am still planning on getting cdjs, but over a longer period of time as I can afford them. Also, does Traktor have any features like Rewire to function with Propellerhead Reason?

    Thanks

Oh, and one other thing - would there be any complications is using traktor with protools for recording?

Yes, in my opinion (however have never been a big fan of cdjs). With a controller, and your mp3s you have a much more flexible setup than you do with cdjs, and, it can be done for a lot less money.

My setup is a Numark omni control (now comes with Traktor LE!) along side regular decks. This has been brilliant, sound is professional and total cost: £250. If you already have decks and can spend a bit more, then scratch pro (with timecode vinyl) is a must. Still way cheaper than two good quality cd decks and, its the real thing!

As far as linking to other software i'm not to sure, not yet got into a timecode setup yet so don't know what is possible, i'm sure many here are however!
