Newbie Qs on LFO/Oscillator/Panel

Hi, I am new to Reaktor but not new to modular synthesis. I've used analog modulars extensively in the past, and I am experienced with software simulations like the Nord Modular. I am struggling a bit with the learning curve in Reaktor though.

I am trying to build a random pattern player. I was going to use an LFO that I can reset on the beat into a sample & hold into a note scaler/quantizer. I started with a completely blank instrument. I have a single sawtooth oscillator going into the output. I can hear it clicking so I know it's working, but obviously the frequency is too low. I can attach a knob to the F input and that lets me crank the oscillator up to normal note ranges. I tried to switch the knob out for an LFO but the LFO's output doesn't seem to work as an F input for the osc. What am I missing there?

Also, if I add multiple panel controls, they are all mushed together even though I have Auto Panel Layout on. How do I separate them?

Thanks. Looking forward to getting stuck into Reaktor!

Hopefully you've figured these out by now, but just in case:

1 - Do you have anything connected to the inputs of the LFO? Otherwise you are likely to be generating a signal oscillating between zero & zero.

2 - If you click the wrench icon, you can select panel elements & move them around to your heart's content.

Thanks for replying. I figured out #2 on my own.

I sort of figured out how to get an LFO to control an oscillator using the Log F-to-P module. Although I just tried again and I couldn't make it work.

I can't figure out how to get a Sample & Hold in the middle to fire on 16th notes.

I am struggling a lot with understand which ports can be hooked up to which other ports, and when you need converter modules in between (seems like a lot).

How do you approach building things in general? Do you insert panel displays a lot so you can see what the various ports are outputting?

I really want to get my head around it but I'm finding it very hard to get started.

If you hover your mouse over a specific cable, it should show a little pop up that displays the values being transmitted along it. I'm not sure if you have to turn some kind of preference on to see this... Also, check out CList's test stuff.
