I am thinking of purchasing the Korg Zero for traktor

The A&H is above my price range, the DM4000 seems to busy & the Nuo4 seems too old?

    I have 2 X1's and a audio 8 DJ

If I am playing 4 tracks can I control the the fader between decks a b & c d separately? As the unit only has 1 fader, just curious how this would work.

    Thanks

Not sure what you mean about the Korg having only one fader....it has four line faders, one crossfader, and one master effects mix fader. You can define which channels go to the crossfader and which ones are controlled solely with the line faders. IMO you don't even need two X1s. I use a single X1, the Zero4, and MBP for mobile gigs.

yeah pretty new to this all :)

    i mean cross faders
deck a b have 1 cross fader and deck c d has another

i want to be able to fade deck a to b and d to c at the same time

    can this be done?

i wanted 2 x1's so i can control 4 decks without having to use the notebook

maybe i am just been convoluted in my mixing, i tend to jump around alot between 4 tracks

You can assign each of the channels to either left or right on the crossfader, no sweat. IMO a smooth mix means using the channel faders instead of the crossfader anyway. I only use my crossfader to scratch with.

The two X1s, while totally pimptastic (I want another one too), are not really necessary if you can figure out modifiers.

    thanks TeLLy

looks as though I may have to change my method to using the channel faders & not rely heavily on the crossfader

Once you get into a set pattern of multideck mixing, you'll find yourself using that crossfader less and less.

I am actually in two minds now about wether to get the zero 4 or the NUO 4

Have I wasted my money on the audio 8 since the zero4 has a built in sound interface?

Always good to have a backup. I bring both my Z4 and my Audio8 to gigs. Never had to set up the Audio8 but you can never be too careful.

I have contacted a few stores in australia, & all advised that the zero4 has been discontinued, and they can not get any more stock. Same goes with the Nuo4

Ultimately i'd love the Nuo 4.0 with midi, but it doesn't have it.

Do I have any other options other than the Nuo4? That is also around 1k

Denon DNX-1600 perhaps? It's going to be scratch certified.

    yup

I just stumbled about that just then, looking good. Do we know a RRP yet, and its power requirements? hoping I maybe able to get this from the US and save $ if the unit supports 120-240v

Also would you considering it wasting money if I am only using it for MIDI?
I could purchase a M-Audio X-Session Pro, that would prob do the same thing & is 1/10 of the price. But I am thinking quality & technique using a proper mixer will help me in the long run.

I doubt I will expand too as I have the X1's to use.

^^It would definitely be a waste of money buying a full-featured DJ mixer that happens to have MIDI capability if you're only going to use it for MIDI. Even my Zero4, which happens to have MIDI on over 74% of its controls, is no match for a dedicated MIDI device, which would likely only require USB power as well, and be lighter and easier to transport. Hell if you've got that kind of cash to blow, send some my way. I've got a wedding to pay for and for some reason I elected to get diamonds in everything.

The 4.0 does not have midi

& im having a very hard time locating a nuo4

I may just rid the X1's and get a Xone DX or just buy the denon x1600, which will at least give me the chance to update to decks later on if needed.

Pretty much I am kind of lucky as 1k towards the mixer is a gift, but i just dont want to waste it on something I may not use

    but 16bit via usb
I can bypass the built in audio and just use my audio 8 dj right?

I would have thought'd that'd be possible, can't see any reason why not, I guess you'd just have to select audio 8 in preferences as normal not the VSM 4!
