i am not sure that Apple are supporting 10.6.8 any more which makes it difficult for companies that sell software that is for Macs as well as PCs.

Saw this on KVR Audio and on the KOMPLETE forums....not sure how much confirmation there is in it but it could be good news.

"For all you OSX Snow Leopard ( 10.6.8 ) users I can confirm that Battery 4 and in fact the whole Komplete package do install and run despite the required specs on the NI stating OSX Lion and upwards!"

    Caveat empor.

NI could break Komplete for 10.6.8 with any update. You currently can't install Traktor on 10.6.8 without workarounds, so be aware that if you buy Komplete 9 you may not be able to install updates to it at some point in the future.

Yes YES! Please don't drop support. I have a FW-1884 that is discontinued and has driver support to 10.6.8
I plan to upgrade K7-K9. Has anyone actually tested 10.6.8 with K9U?

I wish there was like a million other signatures on this thread. I'm certain that there are a LOT of other users out there that would like major developers like NI to continue to support 10.6. I personally know about 3 other studio owners who have no intention of upgrading 10.6.8. I have a perfect set-up of software and hardware in my studio that if I upgrade to Lion, or god forbid Maverick will be far less stable and require me to purchase a bunch of updates. No way. Not happening. Not for a long time. I wanted to add a Maschine to my list of gear, and was sold on the drum synth available in 2.0 software. After purchasing a second hand unit I found out it Maschine 2.0 requires Mac OS 10.7.

I wish this was something that had any likelihood of happening, but I reckon a snowball has a better chance in hell.

On a side not, what the *** is with the NI forum search engine??? I typed "support 10.6.8" and this nor any other relevant post came up, only found this through a google search.

+1 and signed. as 10.6 is the last system to support rosetta, it would be a key one to still support, not to mention a few macbook pros, with the power to still run these, cannot support past that. even the rc24 and rc48 ask for 10.7+ to install, but will run on 10.68... with k9, you may have to make a partition on disc for 10.7, and then manually move the files over to see if they run, as it is likely the installer will not work unless you change the system info file in the system folder. maschine 2 set up to prevent using workarounds for some odd agenda when it does not have to be and will run in 10.6.8 with much difficulty.

i think it is one thing to officially drop support, meaning do not call tech support with issues on an unsupported usage, but to make it so it will not install if it is capable of running is another thing. it would be better to simply state that it has the capacity to run in an early system as a courtesy, but that it is no longer provided tech support for that in order to concentrate resources on future developments.

some of the maschine expansion packs for m1.8 would not install on 10.6 for absolutely no reason other than the installer preventing it. a little hack and it installed and ran fine.

or we could buy live suite with push and other sample collections and soft synths.. or actual analog and virtual hardware the software is emulating, voting with our wallets and not purchase any product that does not support it causing prices to increase to make up for lost sales revenues, decreasing resources to future products.

i run 10.7, 10.6.8, and 10.9.. of all of them, even 10.9 on a brand new macbook pro, i still prefer 10.6.8 even though i will in the future be porting to 10.9 because of the multi monitor menu support when they finish it and release OS 11 beta, which only supports the new i9 processor, which must be better because 9 is greater than 7, then you all will be f¨cked when you circulate petitions like this to keep support for os 10 period.. i want more options f¨cker.

That's your right as a consumer! Although as more and more developers drop support for 10.6.8 (Steinberg, Protools, Logic have also dropped 10.6.8), you'll have less and less choice as to what you can spend your cash on.

actually i am a little fed up with apple's strict business model - it is not that i am anti progress, it is that i am anti toxic landfill waste.

nord lead 4 or k10 and new macbook pro.. i take the nord.... perhaps i am not the only one sick of this planned obsolescence, even the NI founder is developing a hardware keyboard that has a reaktor like synth.

Well, releasing a new OS every year certainly presents challenges for developers and consumers alike
