    Hi all

    Hope you are well.

Just wondering if I am the only one who is feeling pretty disappointed about their NI experience as a new customer. I've recently invested £2k in buying a Komplete Kontrol S61 MK2 and the Collectors Edition of Komplete 12 Ultimate (all of which I have done at a stretch - £2k is a hell of a lot of money to me - but was just super excited about the power of the software/hardware on the promo videos and wanted to do things properly if I was going to stump up the cash). Never used NI before nor bought their software/hardware, so was looking forward to getting stuck in.

Fast forward to getting the gear, and although I am loving the build of the Komplete Kontrol MK2, installing the software has been nothing short of a nightmare. I keep getting "an error occurred while running the installer" errors for 9/10 of the 170+ instrument packs and the support option on the NI website helpfully advises me to install them manually and then restart Native Access. So here I am, currently installing everything manually, 4 hours in and 100 manual installs to go.

Given the money I have spent and the issues I am having already, I am wondering if I have made a big mistake and if this is going to be the beginning of a long line of issues. Coupled with the fact that I have been offered £22 e-vouchers for everything I have bought, but cannot stack these, I'm feeling rather let down and like NI are just trying to syphon more money out of me. Not a good look given the money I have already spent. So yeah, they will not be used either.

Is this the norm (both in terms of feelings and issues) and is there anything I can do to make future updates more streamlined?

Thanks (and looking forward to getting involved in here all being well)

Depends. All software installers have issues. I usually just install the new kontakt stuff first, komplete kontrol, reaktor stuff. Then play for a bit. Do you need ten pianos on day one? No.

First of all: Welcome to the forums!

That's a very fine setup you got there. I happen to own collectors as well (thanks to a massive discount last Holiday season; which is a tip for you) but yah, I can tell you that the sound potential of that setup is seriously impressive!

But... let's focus on your issues.

You don't give us much information to go on here. I mean... what operating system do you use? Are you sure that there's enough free space available? And where are you installing these components to?

For example... if you have minimal free space on C but enough on D then it's still possible that you may run into problems due to the lack of free space on C (N.A. needs temporary storage space to extract certain archives; most operating systems default this location to the system drive, which is C for Windows...).

Yah, I can't say I share your semantics. If your OS has some kind of issue then that's not something N.A. can magically fix for you. I do have a tip: you can queue product installations. So, you don't have to wait for every single component to install, just click install for several of them and they'll be queued; then all you have to do is wait. That's how I installed my setup last year because there were several components I didn't care for (for example: I had no need for factory selection libraries while I had the full library available, I also didn't care for several sampled piano's at that time). I've been here myself and it worked out quite well for me.

Hope this can help you out a bit.

And once again welcome to the forum, I hope you're going to have some good fun from your gear. As said: that's a very nice collection (of course I am biased), and having it all at your disposal through a nice keyboard... yah, should be good.

I prefer the hand install method as really i dont use half of the bundle anyway,. For me many of the huge sampled Kontakt orchestral libraies are overkill, and take up massive amounts of space. Not necessary really if you doing more electronic genre stuff.
