I currently have the Maschine mk3 after I sold my Arturia minilab mk2 and im finding it nearly impossible to integrate with Logic Pro x. So I am in the market for a new midi keyboard and Im debating between the Nektar p6 or NI A61 or S61. My question is how is the NI Komplete series in terms of integration with Logic Pro x? I know Nektar is great for that but not sure on Komplete. Any suggestions from people currently working with Komplete keyboards is greatly appreciated, thank you.

Heh. I have a collection of 49-key keyboards (including Akai, etc.). My old studio was setup so I could swap out the desired keyboard depending on what I was doing. Panorama is nice for some oddball synths nobody has controllers for; but with the third party add-ons for Komplete, not so unique anymore and they have not updated the original Panorama synth library in a LONG time (so they have none of the more recent UAD plugins coded for instance). I do like the S49 MkII as far as playability; but I kind of liked the scribble strips on the S49 MK1. Keybed on Panorama better for playing organ and the moving fader is pretty useful for those who know what to do with a mixer .... however if you're deep into the KOMPLETE ecosystem, the S49 MKII is a really nice solution -- but get the third party add-on packs for stuff like KORG plugins, Spectrasonics, AIR, etc. and you would notreally really need the Panorama P series at this point. (It's actually my studio pictured from left angle side view on the Panorama P4/6 page for Logic support ! )

Thanks for the in depth comparison. Im not really deep into Komplete eco because I have been diligent in logic. I was leaning toward the s series because the panorama seems dated like you mentioned. Seems Komplete has good integration with logic from what I've watched in youtube.

Yeah, there is a great video with a young woman, showing the S49 MKII I think, running with Logic that is the best demo of what you can do right now. And again, there is a guy on here who has been doing all the custom drivers and demo sounds for popular plugins not yet part of the NKS family of third party stuff (e.g., Omnisphere, etc). // PHOTO my old studio prior to Summer move; showing the MKII with Logic, where I'm using it without Komplete Kontrol just as 'dumb' MIDI controller :)

Great thread. I would like to know whether the MKI S61 can be updated to function nicely with the current Logic 10.4.6 and KK 2.1.6?
I recently purchased the A49 which integrated fully with Logic, then made the KK update to 2.1.6. This then stopped the full integration functionality. I am on K 12 U software suite also. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, my S49 MK1 still works just fine with latest version of LOGIC X and KK. But since I'm using classic Mac Pro, locked to OSX High Sierra. SO, no idea with OSX Mojave. I just ordered a S88 MKII since I like the S49 MKII so much. But the S49 MK1 still works, so S61 should too, presumably. The "A" series has different driver setup since no scribble strips or screen like the S series -- so kinda diff. animals there.

Loved it. Bought when it first came out. Actually, funnily enough, replaced it with an S88 MKii for new setup at my new house!

Still putting the Argosy HALO desk together here -- just now took all the pieces out of the boxes, which have been in the new studio the past month. Other stuff had intruded.

Congrats bud, I bought the A61 last week because I just needed a new midi asap, but I'm thinking I should just spring for the S61 because my main concerns are integration and the keybed because I'm a pianist first. I know the S series has the fatar. Whats your thoughts compared to the PC3 (keys looked great) and S series?

The S61 has the classic Fatar synth action used by Dave Smith, Waldorf, etc., etc. -- great for synth playing. The S88 has a newer keybed than the fairly old light touch keybed in the PC3K8 (PC3K is diff. from PC3). So, the S88 has something comparable to the PC3K series. Still not as good as their Studiologic grand touch thing (I have visions of swapping in the other keybed ha... ). I'm actually going to end up with the S88MKII as my 88, and the ASM Hydra 49 as my synth controller.
