It's not about how fast the development is, but quality of it that when they do release something their is not many issues. Steinberg rushed cubase 7 which was a nightmare for me. They put out cubase 8 and their are still issues with it I noticed from 7/7.5. I blame yamaha for probably pressuring Steinberg to get it out. I was concerned about studio one. Presonus took their time and studio one is kicking every daw's butt imo. If NI were to put out speedy releases and it was full of bugs everyone would be saying they need to take their time. We can't have it both ways imo.

Cockos Reaper is a good example, that fast development with good quality control is possible.

But with Reaper it is possible, because it is a small local dev team and only one product. Larger companies like Akai and NI have dev teams worldwide and a bunch of products, which makes management of development much more complicated.

But mentioning QA of DAWs is s good point, because there are dependancies. The best example is the Yosemite debacle ... Apple drastically changed OSX under the hood and now there are still unsolved incompatibilities between Avid and NI hardware, because these need colloboration between Avid, NI and maybe even Apple to be solved.

I guess my not being a 'seasoned professional' must mean that my MANY VISTi's are not working as I thought they were! Out of a collection of about 40 plugins, only 2 have failed to work properly (and they were 'fixed' by using Kore). All others work flawlessly, with controls being set up and/or changed easily. The tagging system is easy to use and flexible.

You seem to be running down the Akai and suggesting that folk should use KK and the beat box as an alternative. Really? Two products to do the work of one?

I agree that multichannel plugs don't work as one might hope but it's a small issue.

Overall, the Akai system is easy to use and has caused very few (very small) headaches. And it's only on Version 1.

As for NI "only doing this to compete with Akai" - if they hadn't ditched Kore, they wouldn't have had to.

    Why would I.
Your story's are also just rumors and not confirmed by NI.
The KK keyboard is released in 2014 and still no a good working with third party plug-ins.
The KK keyboard is designed for NI plug-ins and not for third party plug-ins.
So i don't think that there will be a software update like Akai's VIP.

you can give your own opinion, but please do not claim to get information from a beta tester when the person you are getting your rumours from is clearly not a beta tester.

My own experience of beta testing is that even giving out the smallest hint of privileged information will lead to one being very quickly branded as untrustworthy. It's like having a thief in the staffroom. Until the culprit is found (thankfully, this is usually a quick process) everyone feels that they are under suspicion. Anyone claiming Beta tester knowledge in advance of a release is rather like those people who claim to have been in the SAS. They very probably aren't.

Give me one reason why that salesman is not a beta tester?
He sales keyboards and other music stuff to people over 3 countries.
If he want to sale my a NI KK then i will say that there will be a KK software update for all the plug-ins.
But he told me that there will be a update for same third party plug-ins.
Its up to the manufactures to map their plug-ins.
In other words there will be no software update like the VIP not this year.

Well NI had to make a business move and they dedicated their resources to maschine. I would use the AKAI and move on with my life and make music.

has he told you he is an NI Beta Tester? NI Beta Testers have a very strict NDA, so if he is dropping rumours then he is breaking his agreement. and the more you talk about him the more chance he will be sacked by NI... but i don't think he beta tests for NI.

he probably works for Akai and is trying to get you buy an Akai Advance, and he will get a commission from any sales that he personally makes.

    Ok maybe you're right.
But why can tell NI if there will be a update like the VIP software?
If they do then they sale more keyboards.

NI very rarely say anything before a release but as lethal_pizzle stated above they did say:

VST support, and advanced plug-in integration using the brand-new Native Kontrol Standard™ (NKS™), is scheduled for late summer 2015.

that sounds like their version of 'VIP' to me.

I just wandered into this thread and couldn't help but feel that I took a wrong turn and ended walking by a kindergarten class at the very moment a petulant child started arguing with the teacher for no good reason whatsoever....geez...beam me outta here Scotty...socially challenged creatures are taking over the planet.

OK. So it's an argument that means nothing to you. Fine. There are others for whom this DOES mean something and there have been interesting points on both sides. It's what a forum is for. It can be deadly serious or it can be fun. Sometimes it can be mostly serious with a touch of frivolity thrown in for good measure.

Some might say that it's only the 'socially challenged' who inhabit these boards. Others might say that the seriously 'socially challenged' are those who wander into an argument about which they care nothing, throw in an insult or two, then bugger off.

Schräge Musik, my comments have nothing to do with you and are in reference to the whole Beta Testing nonsense. It's not often I walk in and drop a bombshell like I did...so you could be right...probably not the smartest thing to do but it just irritated me and simultaneously made me laugh for whatever reason. And dang, Sowari, talk about patience and tact...I'm impressed :)

Hehe! I'm good with it...keeping it real is alright by me, and no offence was taken. You're right, my comment probably wasn't the most tactful move on my part, but I couldn't help it (this one time) ;)
