Seen some blurb about natives new Kontrol.... Any one actually used one or could tell me a bit more about it.....?

Im currently using a Korg nano Kontrol but its a bit small and fiddly.... I was thinking of getting a xone 1d but you thinks its worth waiting til feb for the NI x1?

i really wanted a a&h xone 4D, but i have a mckie d.4 so i was thinking about keeping the mackie and getting 2 xone 1Ds. but now i hear about the x1 and i am thinking about getting 2 of those instead, come feb. don't know what to do. many are saying the xone 1Ds are superior.

I was going o get a Xone 4D, then thought about 2 x1Ds and now this X1 is coming out...

I'd still prefer the 4D but the X1 will be better for playing out.

    x1

i have the nano kontrol. i've had the hercules, kontrol dj, vestax vci and i still can't find a suitable controller that is really portable. when i saw the x1 i thought great! when i took a closer look i was disapointed that there is no faders and no crossfade. my initial impression is it doesnt look any better than any other controller.

all i want is a symectrical bank of rotaries, 2 faders, buttons and a crossfader. who do they ask when they want feedback, just top club dj's with a host of equipment?

i think people will go mad for it then sell it on just like the stanton touch thingy.

stick with the nano. i made an overlay for mine, much better.

this is my korg nano overlay. i scanned the original layout and put in colours and text in photoshop. i then printed it on card, covered it with sticky back plastic (like book covering stuff) cut it out with a craft knife etc.

i mix at home and do the occasional gig in small venues so i don't have timecodes/cdj's/turntables etc. the nano is a good controller for now but i was hoping for more from the x1.

    Billy the kid000,

I have the 1d and use in along side of my korg zero 4. I do not use time code vinyl and tend to have at least 3 of the 4 decks going at once.

The 1d works great I use it to browse for tracks, set and control loops and run the fx in traktor.

Lately I too have been memorized by NI's x1.

Things I like about the 1d
It's laid out to control the four decks easily with one controller (each vertical row corresponds to a deck in traktor)
I used the top encoders for loops and they work great.
    It's solid and works everytime

    Things I don't like about the 1d
I wish it had one more row (4 total) of rotary pots. Would allow the 3 traktor fx parameters to match up with the 3 rotary pots with out needing a modifier.
I wish the rotary pots were also buttons.
I wish it had LEDs to easily see what is on and what is off.

Things I think I would like about the x1
The layout looks better for traktor
    The led's would be helpful

Things I think I would dislike about the x1
I think you would need 2 to run four decks easily (not sure about this)
My 1d would need to be sold or start gathering dust.

Personally I'm gonna stick with my 1d but I could switch if it breaks or I run into a bunch of mad money.

    almost the same here,
first, it looked perfect, to have a dedicated controller from N.I. with the layout exactly as needed for traktor.
    but then:
you`d need 2 of them, think of the price,
and add 2 of the cases as well, for stands and transport.
then, you can have a better solution for the money.
i am still running 2 FX-units (still on 1.1.2) - and to be honest,
    it`s enough.
for 4 decks of heavy use and 2 FX-units, the Xone:1d is perfect.
i have my layout, i know everything it does, and i don`t really have to look at the computer, except for choosing a track - and for visual feedback of the FX.
but usually, i have the FX-Slots enabled for the same decks, means FX-1 (advanced) is always "on" on the same deck (C), whereas FX-2 (chained) is on deck D, per default.
so, if i want to change this, i know from where i have to go.
then, after changing, i have to look at the GUI, to bring it back to "normal".
this is the only sad about the 1d, no LEDs.
    the advantage is the faders.
for example: i would never want the FX Dry/Wet to be on a knob.
i use a fader for it, that way i can build up a break using 2 FX, and when it`s over, i can pull down 2 Dry/Wet Sliders with one finger, easyly.
that leaves me the other hand to decrease volume, put back Beat/Bass on and so forth,
you can`t turn both dry/wet knobs that easy.

i like my layout, the 1d works perfect, i will stay.

    only 2 deck controls?

I was in love with the Kontrol X1 until I saw it only controls 2 decks. Now Ii have to find something else. Hope they make a 4 deck controller soon.

That is all good for studio work but buying two devices is the antithesis of portability. Can u lock two x1 controllers together? I just want to be able to mix 4 decks with one controller.

If you want a 4 deck controller go for the vestax vcm600 (provided you dont need jog wheels). It is fantastic - great build quality, lots of faders, buttons and knobs. Its feels great to use.

    Hey dudes,

i'm about getting a really bad headache. What a bullshit discussion!
    1 KX1 is for 2 decks.
    2 KX1 are for 4 decks.
    Where is the problem?

    The bags are great!

You can't compare the vcm600 with the KX1.

    199€ is really ok.
    - good quality
    - plug and play
    - LEDs which are costumizeable

I am really looking forward to the KX1! Will put one on each side of my mixer.

The NI X1 controller does not have enough features to warrant buying it.

NI get back into the design room and make a proper controller.

I use a 4D and 2 x 1Ds so I have full control of all parameters on each deck.

If you think its a bullshit discussion why are you contributing to it you bellend? As for the KX1 - you make the comment that it is good quality (it probably is) but have you used one? Have you used a vcm600? If you have please enligten us as to why you think you cant compare. The vcm600 costs more but you would need at least 2 KX1s to come even near the vcm600 in terms of cumbers of available controls. Now if you said something like - the vcm600 is designed to control everything (channels, eq, fx, loops)where by the KX1 is obviously designed to sit beside a hardware mixer then that would be a valid comment.
So next time why dont you try and be a bit more constructive and back up your statements instead of just giving out about others who want a constructive thread.

The Xone:1D had a great reputation. Even the way the circuit boards are positioned in the unit gives better quality. It's quite hard to damage the Xone:1D

I would go with the Xone:1D just because of Allen&Heaths amazing quality and their great reputation for making amazing gear.

    Go for the Xone:1D

Also the Xone:1D looks like a pro unit, unlike the X1...
The X1 looks like something you'd give to kid at christmas that flashes.
The X1 is cheaper then the Xone:1D for a reason...
Simply because there is way less buttons and features.. Quality sucks on the X1..

    Go for the Xone;1D.

    I've just purchased a 1D as I needed a controller and can't wait for the X1.

My thoughts on the 1D over the X1 is that it's obviously fully assignable with traktor, whereas with the X1 you are inclined to just stick with what they've set it up with already. This will be perfect for some, for others not.

From the pictures and video's I think the 1D looks nicer, but the X1 wins hands down when it comes to LED lighting. Some don't like this but I'd like to know what buttons are active etc in a dark environment.

From the pictures it doesn't look like the X1 will sit that well next to a standard club mixer, but I guess time will tell on that.

I was going to get a 4D for home use and occasionally playing out when possible, and the X1 for solely playing out, which I still may do, but for the time being I'm going to get to grips with the 1D instead.
