My question is with the S4 coming out which is a great idea in my opinion nice job. I want to know if there are any plans to make one lke the NS7 with the spinning platters and adjustable torque for us hip hop djs/producers who like that type of feel. I would hate to spend 899.99 and 6 months to a year later you guys fulfill my dream. I am loving these new controllers coming out. I'm going to sell my pioneer cdj 800s in favor of the controller based setup. I know companies like to spring things up on customers and surprise everyone but if intel can drop a road map for there processors I think NI can do something similar.

I don't think they will due to the competitive nature of the DJ software/controller industry mate.

Buy one now, play a year, if something better comes out, sell it with a loss.

You will most likely be able to sell it for 600, if in good condition.

So, then you rent it for 1 euro a day.

You can write of value at 20/ 30% a year anyway.

The S4 could have been a spinning platter! I will stick to my CDJ's but thinking of getting a pair of TTs. That is still the ultimate! If NI adopts spinning platters within the the next year I will be truly surprised. Looking at all the requests for native support from the denon hc, to ns7 and 3700.. how many years has it been since the first spinning platter hit the market? How long did it take the companies that wanted to support it? Virtual, Serato etc ... Its their we don't know/care attitude that bores me ... just say NO we are not or YES we will at this date.. so far nothing. Can anyone tell me if they have gotten a yes or no answer from NI regarding this? at least that will be fair to us your customers that spend our time and money on this software. stop.. now i'm ranting ...

Please tell me you do not expect NI to anounce a future product during a lauch/ roll out of the S4.

    For obvious reasons...

    1) Release something,
    2) See what customer says
    3) See what competition offer,
    4) Goto step 1

Yeah i hear a lot of this "do what the customer" wants like NI arent doing what the customer wants.

NI are doing what the customer wants, thats why the X1 sold so well. Thats why there is so much interest in the S4.

NI are making products that match their software. Why on earth are people so amazed that they are not spending time and money on other peoples products.

NI arent doing what 'some' customers want. Those people are usually the ones beating up on NI for not supporting a piece of equipment that a competitor supports.
    NS7, VCI300, A&H DX.
If NI were going to support these products they would have done it by now.

I dont speak for NI, so this is me playing devils advocate.

If someone buys the S4 and then NI come out with something else you will still be happy with your S4. That wont change.

No one expects you to get married for life to your equiptment. You can buy and sell.
Just get what you want/ need/ can afford, and sell it then you are done.

Reality is, every year you have and use equipment it gets worth less (except some vintage gear (303/ 909/ Juno))
Normally you buy something new, it wil drop in value 30% overnight.

Every year you use it, it gets worth less:
I usually count on a depreciation of 20-30% the first day, and 10-20% annualy.

With specialist equipment you buy new on the moment of release, this is even worse because of the premium.
My 4D is now worth 1000 - 1200 after 2 years (500/ per year depreciation)

Basicly, if you have a controller for 1-2 years it may cost you on average 1 or 2 euro depreciation every day.
This is something you must factor in.
So, buy an S4, sell it with 300 euro loss when a newer, better solution comes out next year.

If you are a professional, you can deduct 20-30% depreciation annualy from tax and reclaim the VAT.
Get comfortable with this system, and deal with this fact like a pro.

With technology, there will always be a better, faster, cheaper option next year.
It's pointless to ask for a future announcement or complain that you just baught a product, etc.
Be happy that progress is made. It does come at a price that we, as consumers, must pay.

exactly that. the people who bemoan progress would be exactly the same people moaning if in two years time no development was made.

look at the S4, some people are hugely excited.

some people are pissed cos the software upgrade is going to be available in TPro/TSPro

theres some saying about pleasing all the people all the time?

I'm not a Native fanboy, but you only have to look at the level of innovation coupled with stability compared to its main competitor, to realise they clearly have some good ideas and sales levels probably indicate the success of giving people what they want.

Without the consumer any company is useless. It was a simple question. I don't think spinning platters is very revolutionary anymore so it's not like they would be dropping this huge secret plan that could be stolen by another manufacture. People crack me up because it's like you as the consumer relinquish your power when you don't ask questions and just "Team Up" with the manufacture because you like a product. A closed mouth don't get fed. Frankly I could care less what NI is dropping (S4). My specific needs as a consumer can either be met or not. If they aren't then I will look elsewhere that is the beauty of it. It's called researching product. If they can't answer my simple question then I will get the NS7 and Serato it has the bridge anyway. Works amazing with Ableton Live. Wouldn't you guys like to know if NI has any plans to compete with that? I know I would. We let these guys milk us lol. Instead of demanding we beg we plead well thank God I wasn't built that way and I value every penny. I want the most for my money. Rane and Ableton are kicking there a$$ right now. You would think they would say something to keep there customers verses giving the silent treatment. That goes for Maschine as well. I will possibly be selling my TSPro soon.

I chuckle when i read this... People post this every so often.

    How..?

You are looking at it from 'your own point of view'. The Bridge is fantastic but it doesnt appeal to everyone. Ive said it before, i have zero interest in Ableton so the Bridge means nothing to me.

Rane havent got Maschine and i love Maschine but i dont conclude that Rane are losing it to NI.

The people that come on this forum with heavy criticism and factor in another product are simply people that need to change there setup. NI caters for a lot of people, if the NI product line doesnt cover your needs then you should look elsewhere.
Im not trying to be harsh, Rane/Serato does not cover my product needs therefore I dont use their products. Im not gonna buy Serato and then moan that it doesnt have all the FX. Im not gonna buy an S4 to use with SSL...

People speak sh... this days, first of all if you buy ns7 you will not use scratch live you will use Itch, and for now you canno't use it with Bridge..... maybe in future but i doubts..

The Bridge - nothing special.. i own serato and i tried bridg, and have to say that i wasnt fascinated by it, it is a cool product but nothin so cool and revolutionary.. they must spend much time more because it is full of bugs, and blah...

Use what you want use, decision is on you, i choose TSP over Serato because it is better for me, for someone that is serato, for someone third that is mixvibes.. etc.

S4 is great controller, and if it not suits your demand dont buy it, i doubt that NI will rlease some new produt for a 6 months or so...

We can continue this discussion talking about consumer rights/ appreciation,
and if you check my previous comments you can see I have exprssed my views on this forum.

    Unfortunately, this is the reality:

You are asking for a piece of information that will -most likely- hurt sales of the S4.
This is why you will not get this information in this point in time.

Yeah it says they are working on support for itch and the bridge on serato's site. I'm not at all trying to be nasty I am just stating my views. I don't take pills. My view as a customer will never change. Like I said if NI feels that it would hurt the sales of the S4 then maybe it should have that feature or they would support the NS7. I see a lot of people requesting it but I'm sure that would dip in to S4 sales also. I'm just not the one. If I feel the company isn't looking out for the best interest of the consumer it's a turn off. Moderators put out fires in these kind of forums so I tend not to be bothered with comments from them. Nothing against it. The whole why would NI do this why would NI do that.... If they decided to it would be of course NI did that we should be thankful. I am not going to call anyone fanboy but unless I am getting paid by a company to use there product it's not my job to stick up for the company. I have yet to see them handing out free gear besides a contest. I am going to have to do some more research before I truly decide my direction for my dj setup. And yes Maschine is dope I own it but where is TIMESTRETCH? I would have to know you on a personal level to not like you so NI and all the people using there products live long and prosper. I just had a question and the response to my question made me really think about my right as a consumer. I heard the customer was always right.

True, but there is another side to a company: make a profit.
Afterall: the best for the consumer is to get the product for free.

I think that statements means you always have to make the customer FEEL right/ important/ appreciated.
Or, when the consumers do not buy, they are right.

But I'm sure it does not mean if you pay a company money, all you say or want is true or needs to be met.

It all comes down to this: losing you a a costumer will represent a 1000/ 2000 euro missed profit, max.
Unless you start writing nasty stories about NI on the net, you might increase the potential damage.

NI making a statement to save a bit of cash for you will cost 100.000 - 1.000.000, perhaps more.

So, unfortunately, you are not getting a disclosure here, or now.

Out Selling every competitor in the market with Software and Hardware tells me that they are pleasing the customers and that the customers are happy.

The few that use unsupported hardware are always the ones that say NI are not listening and use the "the customer is always right" line...

So far NI have answered the main areas of there market, X1 perfect add on for the external set up and S4 really looks set to be the king of VCI alike controllers. With both areas of there main of there market well and truly answered I'm really excited what hardware they will add next, my guess is they will next attack the area that will maximize there profits.

    Moving Platter controller

An X1 sized Maschine padded up controller, to help access S4 features on a external set up when TSP gets S4 features.

    2 channel battle mixer midi/analogue

NI are far from silly and proven time and time again that they don't sit still, what ever piece of hardware they bring out next will be for the majority of what there users want next, as that will benefit the brand.

Obviously Itch is currently the market leader with moving platters, so it does seem like a better more light weight NI version of the Numark NS7 should be on there to do list. Its hope of a NI moving platter that is stopping me from buying a the Denon 3700. I'm crossing all fingers for something modular that can sit next to the S4.

The wait may be frustrating but I love the way NI can learn from other products flaws and give us the perfect product. Plus you gotta appreciate we do have DVS so it's pretty easy to understand why a moving platter controller hasn't been on top of there list.

Too bad you'll have to wait for next year for the bridge to work with Itch (Scratch Live doesn't work with the NS7) ;)

Personally there are a few things I'd like to see in Traktor, but overall I find it's a much better product for my needs than either of Serato's offerings, so I'm happy.

I am slightly confused as to why Serato felt the need to have two distinctively different products for pretty much the same purpose, limits the flexibility imo.
