OK, so I've not been able to get my Z1 working with Traktor Pro yet for the most stupid reason..

I'm on Snow Leopard, so TP 2.6.0, so manual MIDI mapping for me. No problem, except I can't get any drivers!

The Z1 packaging directs to www.native-instruments.com/go-z1, which leads to a hardware registration page, which is... blank. Tried on several browsers and devices.

And the drivers section under 'Support' above doesn't include the Z1 yet. Grr!

Damn, so its not recorgnized as a standard Midi Controller in Traktor Pro 2.6.0? Or is the soundcard not working?

No, it's not I'm afraid. I've been told it should be easy to set up as a MIDI controller, but I can't do it - I'm guessing I need the driver which I can't get hold of yet!

It works as a soundcard OK without drivers but the meters don't work - hoping that'll be fixed once I've got the driver.

Damn NI, why? I orderd mine today but guess I will send it back if there is no way to get it running on Snow Leopard. I will buy a Behringer CMD MM1 instead.

It should be a class compliant, meaning you should be able to just create a controller mapping and select the Z1's input and output ports.

    @johyde: Can you test it?

The audio interface works OK out of the box. What I can't get working is the MIDI. I think this is because it needs drivers, which still don't seem to be available. The NI site issue from yesterday is resolved, but as the final stage of registration it gives you the option to download drivers, which takes you to the drivers page - all the other Traktor interfaces are listed there but still no Z1.

Or am I missing something? is it possible to set up the MIDI without drivers? I can't seem to work it..

The Z1 should send a Midi Signal. Have you added a "Generic Midi" Device in Traktor? (Controller Manager --> Add --> Generic Midi / After that set up the In- and Out-Port).

Yes, I've done that. Then I'm trying to use 'learn' but it doesn't pick anything up. Otherwise I'd be using guesswork as I've no idea what messages the thing is putting out. My guess was that a USB device would need a driver to be recognised as MIDI, but maybe I'm wrong.

Damn! Do you have any other software which supports Midi Control (e.g. Ableton Live)? Maybe you can check with that other software, if the Z1 is sending any Midi Signal..

AFAIK: The Z1 can be used as a Midi controller for any software but it needs to be switched into Midi Mode and to do that you need to have 2.6.2 installed which brings support for the Z1 and the "Enable Midi" Option.

WTF? So there is no way to get it in Midi Mode by pressig 2 Buttons like the X1?

So this is looking like a crazy catch 22. The reason we want MIDI mode is because we want to use it with TP 2.6.0, but you can only enter MIDI mode if you have TP 2.6.2 (when you don't need it)?

Rakim77 - I've tried it with Max/MSP, which will pick up pretty much any kind of MIDI message. Nothing. I don't think it recognises it as a device, and that would normally require some sort of driver I'd think.

    Damn!

@Karlos: Can you confirm, that for us Snow Leopard Users is really no way to get the Z1 running? Cause then I will cancel my order and get me a Behringer CMD instead....

Have the Z1 today with 10.8.4 and I can't get traktor to recognize my device. No drivers for Mac are available on the website, only Windows.
