I'm currently interested in purchasing the Komplete Kontrol S25 as well as one of the Maschine controllers to compliment each other. I at one time owned the 1st Maschine controller but I no longer have it. I've been wondering would it be better to purchase the Maschine Mikro Mk II or the $599 version Maschine Mk II. I can't consider the Maschine Studio because it's not within by budget. I need someone who can tell me if the Mikro version of Maschine will have any disadvantages when pairing it with the Kontrol S25. The only disadvantage I see is the single display and that it does not have the 8 additional encoders.

Personally i would suggest going with the full MKII if you are buying right now and it is within budget, Mikro is good, but the full is just way better, also i would personally suggest three things
1 Wait a while, Maschine may enter the MKIII phase with MPC touch being released
2 Make sure you demo the MPC hybrids before buying in to Maschine (Personally right now i think Maschine is the better choice, but when MPC 2 is released all bets are off)
3 Make sure you demo Akai Advance and the Maudio/Alesis variants of that too, Everybody i know who owned Kontrol either took it back or sold it at a later date and bought a VIP compatible system.

Hi, I used to own both (except it was a KK61 I finally sold). The standard MKII version is better in terms of :
    • giving you direct access to some features (switching from one group to another for example - just press one of the button A B C D etc...)
    • sampling : manipulations are more precise (better resolution I believe)
But you will benefit from the 8 encoders on the KK25, which are mapped to the same parameters as Maschine. So my opinion is it's already very very cool. You can watch this workflow video which explains it quite well :

Well if you have the budget, go for it :)
