    Hi!

Ive started DJ'ing (well, actually been producing for 2 years).

I would like to know what is the greatest deal I can get for DJing with traktor, in terms of turntables, controllers, etc.

Ive thought on BEHRINGER BCD 3000 which i can get for 150 euro.

1.- Is there anything better below the 200 euro limit?
2.- Should I use traktor or just CD/Vinyl DJing?

    thanks!

You're honestly asking that question on Traktor's forum? What sort of answers do you expect to receive? ;)

    honesty is a virtue.

I'm just looking for unbiased feedback.

what about the first question? 1.- Is there something better than the BCD 3000 under 200 euro limit?

That pretty much depends on what your needs are. Well, to start with - a Behringer is a Behringer - they've always had problems keeping a steady quality on the production line... you need a bit of luck, but you might get one that works very well. I wouldn't touch one propably even if my life depended on it (that might actually be a lie - if my life depended on it, I would propably ask the bloody thing to marry me).

Personally, I've been extreamely happy with my Korg Nanopad, which only cost 59 euros at the time I purchased it. Though, I'm not a controllerist (and, to be honest, the CD-players I use to spin the timecode CDS cost me way over 1000 euros each).

What suits one, might not fit for the next person... You'll need to find something that is good for you (of course, asking questions might give you pointers to the right direction ... then again, the direction might be entirely wrong, also).

I realise this isn't propably the most helpful anwer, but you can't expect a lot from a guy who has just woken up after a long day and a very short sleep ;)

The BCD 3000 can be VERY frustrating. Compatability issues with vista, programs not recognizing its there even though its clearly recognized by the computer and the icons in the taskbar... but keep in mind this is under 200 like you said. After all is said and done, and you finally get it working with traktor, its really a great controller/ software combo. With plenty of knobs and buttons on this thing and the ability to map pretty much any function to any button/knob, you can truly customize everything to fit your style. The controller itself is made quite well, except the jog wheels are kinda shitty.

I've had my BCD 3000 for about a year now with limited use, but I'm looking forward to continue experimenting with it. I don't regret buying it for how cheap it is, just be prepared to have some patience in getting it set up. Youtube, forums, tech support will be your friends :)

if you do decide to buy it, pm me if you have any questions!

    cheers,
    ~Squeekz

i can only confirm the above.
i have the behringer Fader-Controller as well as the Rotary.
if they tend to work with your system, (a big IF) -
    you are fine.
if they, for some reason don`t "like" your computer (be it the usb-port,
or the OS .... :: ) you probably have a hard time.

personally, i can give you one advice:
try and get one for 1-2 days, to see if it works with your setup.
if you can find a dealer that agrees to that.
then you`ll know if you are lucky or not.
if there`s any problems recognizing the unit, or if it doesn`t work properly,
even it`s been recognized, bring it back.
    it isn`t worth the hassle.
then go and find anything else.

I LOVE MY BCD3000.... run vista and have NO issues.

there is a nice thread in here with lots of MIDI maps for it.

I've actually been very happy with my BCR2000, I've had it for three or four years and it's still working fine - I've had to take it to pieces and clean it out a few times as a result of soaking with beer at parties, a couple of knobs have broken off (it is plastic after all), and a couple of the buttons don't quite respond like they used to (again, the beer thing...) - but otherwise it's fine.

I don't think I've ever had issues with it connecting - either with Windows or OS X.

The controller is great if you can cope with having a bit of an odd layout for DJing - there's enough knobs and buttons for me to fully control EQ, pitch, volume, effects and transport (excluding loop) for two decks. Once the MIDI Out with modifier is sorted, I'll be working out a three deck mapping of some kind (so switch left half between deck 1 and deck 3, or right half between deck 2 and deck 3 - can't see me needing 4 decks yet).

My next purchase will probably be a NanoKontrol, in preparation for 1.2 with 4 effects, and maybe some loop controlling and having fader rather than rotary volume. Of course, I'm not a pro though, if I were playing in clubs I'd want something a bit more sturdy (and proper DJ looking maybe?).

A mate had a BCD2000 and I thought the build quality seemed a bit shoddy (I think the BCR seems quite sturdy, all things considered) and it didn't seem to work brilliantly. Good for beginners maybe though!
