    Hello,
As someone who loves the NKS system for its ease of use and accessibility, I've become very invested within the NKS system. However, as someone who cannot see, while I can watch videos of the controls that exist in a library, I can't tell if they will all be available via NKS mapping. Would it be possible in the future, when making libraries NKS-ready, to have a list of controls that are available to be controlled? This would make buying libraries much less risky, knowing what controls I will and won't have access to. Thanks!

    Hi,

As a blind user myself I agree entirely with your plight, I try to encourage developers to include details of NKS mapping within their user manuals which are often downloadable from product pages prior to purchase.

However having been involved with the NKS eco system since it's start, I decided to create and run my own website for other blind musicians in order that they may gain a greater insight into various products before parting with their money.

Clearly it's not physically possible for me to review every release, but I have written a good many reviews over the past three years which cover a number of developers.

I always include details of the NKS mapping, and in fact now have a number of sighted followers who read the articles for the same reason.

Whilst I can't wave a magic wand and get everybody to follow this route, I hope you will find some product reviews answer at least some of your questions.

I also host an email list called Komplete Kontrol Access, you may already know of this, but are perhaps under another name.

The website can be found at:

    Regards,

    Chris

    Hey Chris,
Thanks again! Your site has always been helpful when it comes to looking
    Hey Chris,
Thanks for the response. KK-access has always been helpful for detailed mappings, and I've bought (or plan on buying) a few products based on the reviews there alone. I honestly would be a little concerned if you single-handedly reviewed EVERY SINGLE NKS library when they came out (that just seems like a lot of work, and no one should have to do that by themselves). My hope is still that in the future, it'll just exist on web-pages for all to, ahem, see.

Awesome site - I wonder if NI mods could create a link to this site as a sticky in this forum?

While I can sympathise and Chris does a great job, In regards to my own NKS libraries I myself am also just 1 person doing quite a load of work and creating a list of all the controls for all plugins and libraries would be hours and hours of additional work for me to do and in some cases (such as UVI it is impossible as different presets have different control maps.

What i offer instead is a downloadable demo of every library which contains a few presets to test so people can install this, seek assistance if needed and check the presets and mappings themselves to make sure they are happy first. I also have contact links if you need direct assistance. This is all far more convenient for me to manage than creating huge lists of controls especially for something like Omnisphere which is like 30 pages, and 3 different template styles, that is a lot of extra work to do.
