No audio in first bar Logic

Hello all,

I am using Kontakt 2.01 on a Mac G5 2Ghz with Logic Pro 6.

As my title says when creating let's say 4 bars on a track in Logic Kontakt does not seem to react (give sound) on the first bar but starts to give sound from the second bar?! Strange strange. Maybe you can declare it? I hope.

The DFD version I use is DFD 1.30

Yes I have the same in Logic 7. It happens when you start playback from anywhere; Kontakt 2 does not play the first note/the note located at start-playback-position. No difference if you are using DFD/sampler/whatever.

Havent bothered to report it.. things like that usually are fixed in X.1 releases

 

Me to in LP 7.1 and K2. Just start the song from measure -1.

 

I am in contact with the support of NI. As soon as they can give me a solution I let you know!

 

Well me too, i bothered to report it after all. Found some other bugs to report so i inform them of this aswell, so they know there are several with this issue.

 

I have a similar issue with Sonar 4 on PC. The first notes are not played. It is quite annoying when you are working on a loop.

Problem still exists in K2.0.2.

Am I the onle one?

It doesn't solve your problem but you might want to know that this kind of thing has been a Logic issue for a while. Logic with Reason via Rewire will invariably miss the start of the first bar.
I don't know what it is down to - I always wondered if Emagic couldn't quite bring themselves to fully support a Steinberg protocol ;-)
Ableton and Reason don't do this, so it's not an OSX issue.
I've not played with Kontakt 2.0.2 yet as I have not yet had the required amount of grief with the Registration tool. 2.0.1 registered, 2.0.2 registration invalid!
Sadly, starting before the bar you want seems to be the only solution.
If anyone finds out any more about this, let us know...

 

why is this not working

i was ap.c user with kontakt v1 and cubase sx.moved over to mac for stability.i was using ableton live for a while but have just recently bought logic 7.1. i was definitely going to buy kontakt again until i downloaded the demo..what bullshit is going on here.drop out at the first bar..i loved this sampler when i used p.c but now its very frustrating knowing that i cant buy it because of this.in the demo its not updated so the bug fix may be helpful if i bought it..but how would i know.am i supposed to take a serious risk with £340..i dont think so..please say that you have heard of this problem before and that it is underway to being fixed..you will lose a lot of custom across the globe with mac users.thanx.

 

If your notes do not start on exactly the downbeat or a couple ticks after they will be missed. Take a closer look at the note start.

PS If you have NOTE Chase turned on you will still hear it during playback.

 

Logic has had this issue as long as I can remember. I always start a song on bar 3, leaving the first 2 bars empty, to solve this issue, as well as Logic not clearing it's buffers of reverb or other effects right at the initial start point some of the time.

Problem has NOTHING to do with Logic.
NI is aware of the problem and working on it.

Above there have been given some workarounds so as long as it's not fixed we need to do our job a bit creatively.

Actually, it is a well known bug with Logic. Even their own plug-ins suffer from it.

Deffo Kontakt problem - can we have any comments from
NI to confirm they are aware of it? Didnt have this problem using Logic 6 and Kontakt 1.5 and its driving me mad - especially if you have a long sample.

Yes i been in touch with them for each 2.0.x update to let them know and they are aware that it still is a problem and they are working on it. but keep complaining

if it is any consolidation, this problem also was present in 1.5 (or maybe it was 1.0 but cant remember), and they fixed it in 1.5.x update, so its rather silly to appear again

and to clear things up a bit, i think people here are talking about two things; 1: Kontakt misses note-under-cursor when starting playback ANYWHERE in host and 2: Logic doesnt clear buffers or something like that when stop/start playback, so when starting playback, tails from 3rd party audio appears and/or attack is missing. (also somewhat related are 3: internal Logic plugins does not like overlapping same notes when sequenced. exs24 chokes on these)

yes they are related but NO they are NOT the same problem. problem 1 is for NI to solve

to avoid 1, simply start playback a few ticks back (suggestion while you wait for a fix: make one of the keys close to Spacebar to keycommand "Rewind by format value", then playback is a matter of pressing that key + space, its very quick when they are adjacent)

to avoid 2, there are many solutions, the simplest is to automate the volume of the offending tracks to zero until they actually start, other solutions are pre-start a few bars etc ymmv

BUT you dont need more than a tick pre-start for the Kontakt problem to be fixed.

in my opinion problem 1 is ugly, and hopeless when finetuning. problem 2 is sometimes more helpful than a problem (i'd rather everything stop dead when i stop the sequencer)
